Haha good question! It seems like the easiest entry year for schools that offer it???

A big reason it is so easy is because few schools offer FA at pk3 and fewer parents want to start a private school schedule or price at that age. Also, you have to decide 9 6 months in advance if your 3 yo will be "fully potty trained " by then

I've heard from our 5th grade classes, there has been 1 who got into NCS but had a sibling, 1 who got into Landon, 1 who got into Burke, 1 who got into Holton Arms. The vast majority were WL everywhere else and some didn't get anything at all, but had lofty goals with schools like NCS, Sidwell, GDS.

Hold tight OP you will hear when we all do tomorrow. I was curious anyone sends mail. Three schools have not sent even an email and it was nice to get snail mail. Makes me like school more. Good luck every one. Remember all the kids are awesome.

This is deflating. We applied to the "Big 5" and haven't received a single "thanks for interest" note. :/

Do not worry about this! Mo notes at all last year and got into 4 out of 5 appked to. Good luck!!

Notes from some but not all. Accepted at each. Friends got notes at the schools we got notes from and were not accepted (or were). Others didn't get notes at the ones we didn't get notes from and were not accepted (or were). I think this is more a function of each school's policies and process than a "hint" at what the result will be. Been through this twice at the HS level and once for college. Decisions are tomorrow for DC area independents for the most part. Just hang tight. Things have a way of working out.

+10000!

We got accepted to the one and only school that DC applied to. DC is in public HS and has been dissatisfied, so is not in a typical intake year.

It was risky to apply to just one place, but I did feel it was a really good fit, and as DC applied as high schooler it would be more straightforward for the admissions team to see what kind of a student they are.

It is really hard to get in from DCPS because so many apply. In many cases, there are more kids applying to Sidwell (for example) for 6th from one DCPS elementary than there are spots in 6th.
If you really want private school, apply again in 7th. Most of these kids will decide to just stick with public for middle school so the pool is much smaller. Then it gets both harder and easier to apply for 9th. Harder in that more kids apply for 9th to avoid DCPS high school. Easier in that there are more spots overall with the addition of the Catholic high school spots into the mix.

Hopefully their emails are much nicer than last year. Their rejection messages were downright mean.

Yikes. What did they say?

My daughter got into NPS, WIS and Beauvoir. W/l at Sidwell. Picking Beauvoir - it was our number one choice!

Congratulations! All great schools. Beauvoir great in itself AND if you want to carry on (though an offer is not guaranteed). People love NPS and St. Pats.
