It is really hard to get in from DCPS because so many apply.  In many cases, there are more kids applying to Sidwell (for example) for 6th from one DCPS elementary than there are spots in 6th.  
If you really want private school, apply again in 7th.  Most of these kids will decide to just stick with public for middle school so the pool is  much smaller. Then it gets both harder and easier to apply for 9th.  Harder in that more kids apply for 9th to avoid DCPS high school.  Easier in that there are more spots overall with the addition of the Catholic high school spots into the mix. [/quote]
