You’re joking right? So in that one angle they are showing the same amount of arm? You are honestly comparing a coat dress to a cape dress. Ditch the hat, change the shoes and Meghan was basically wearing a cocktail dress. |
Who are you to dictate? Too bad you are not the queen. |
She’s wearing a black calf length dress with a high neck that does not fit very close to her body. Cocktail dress? Because you can see her forearms? You’re on crack. I honestly think part of the issue here is that unlike most of the royals except Kate, MM is a young(ish), attractive, stylish woman. She shows them up looks wise just by showing up. She had to learn to dress as a young working actress with minimal access to stylists (she would not have been able to afford them until the last few years if her career). She us naturally very beautiful and knows how to wear clothes to make herself look good. Most of the royals don’t. She looks amazing and they look okay so she gets criticized for “breaking protocol” but the rules are very selectively enforced against her out of spite. |
Cocktail dress? Ummm no |
| MM looked demure. Cape dress was perfect and comfortable, for sure. Stop comparing her to Kate. It’s no longer relevant. |
Let's talk Lady Sarah Chatto, Princess Margaret's daughter and mother of 2 hot sons
Everything's great - especially love the brooch which was a gift from mom that she wore as a tiara on her wedding day. But the hat....not digging the hat. |
You are nobody. |
I love it all! |
We all are nobody. It’s an anonymous forum dude. |

So the pattern I see here is that women who are especially thin for their frame or age or who have had work done on their faces get complimented for whatever they wear, and everyone else (MM, Fergie, Beatrice, Camilla) gets roasted even if they’re wearing similarly tasteful/fugly stuff.
My winners are Anne and Charlotte. Unrelated, but at the end Charles was grimacing and hobbling, and Anne was expressionless and looked like she could walk for another 10 miles. I have a lot of respect for that. |
I do think thin women are often less criticized because it’s easier to wear clothes. I’ve been a size 2 and a size 10 and I can tell you, at the lower end, almost everything looks good. It’s not hard to find something flattering. Isn’t it widely known that MM got a nose job, though? She is very highly groomed and it works for her, but she’s not particularly natural. |
I’m not sure this is all that is happening. I think pretty much every one thought Sophie looked great? And Bea is quite thin and in my opinion pretty, but her outfit is a bit of a miss game. |
I say and follow that philosophy. But I wouldn’t have a problem dressing a child Charlotte’s age in black for a funeral, especially if it were a State funeral. (Not that I’ll ever have to make that decision…) |
The headband was RIDICULOUS, especially for the wife of the leader of the free world. Zara Tindall’s hat was of the fascinator genre and wasn’t the best look, either. I haven’t seen that mentioned here. |
Yeah, that’s fair. I guess I was thinking of Fergie. I see your point! Bea is relatively thin but it’s always hard to see that due to her clothing choices. |
