This. They lie. |
Especially, especially!, because the ban would allow abortion before 13 weeks (when most of them happen anyway). Disgusting hypocrites. |

Here's a good way to kill the bill. Tie a rider onto the bill so that if a woman who is the victim of rape or incest gets pregnant, and is not allowed to get an abortion, then the man who impregnated her gets a forced vasectomy so that he cannot impregnate another woman again. Since rape and incest are crimes in most jurisdictions, this can be added to sentencing rules.
I bet you, once you add medical control of men to the law, that no politician will touch it with a 6 inch pole. |
It wouldn’t kill the bill, it would line itemed out of there. There’s no shame, no consistency. It’s just straight misogyny and cruelty for cruelty’s sake. They don’t care. |
Only in states that allow abortions. How many states are we up to now that either have a total abortion ban or ban it after 6 weeks (c. 4 weeks post-conception)? This bill would NOT legalize abortion until 13 weeks in those states. |
| Graham's bill would have prevented Chrissy Teigen from ending her life-threatening, doomed 20 week pregnancy, when her baby had no chance of living, but did have a chance of killing her if she didn't induce pre-viability, aka have an abortion. |
| Apologies, I have not read the entire thread, but I have to ask: Have JD Vance, Herschel Walker and/or Dr. Oz made any statements on Graham’s bill? We need to get them on the record. |
This X infinity. And cannot be repeated enough. I will not forget, for sure. |
Oz hasn’t really answered the question. “In a statement, Oz campaign spokeswoman Brittany Yannick said that "Dr. Oz is pro-life with three exceptions: life of the mother, rape and incest. And as a senator, he'd want to make sure that the federal government is not involved in interfering with the state's decisions on the topic." While the statement didn’t mention the fact, Oz had previously put himself on record expressing misgivings about at least one provision in Graham’s bill. At a press conference last week, Oz said, “There should not be criminal penalties for doctors or women regarding abortion.” But Oz’s statement did not expressly say he would vote against Graham's proposal, and his campaign did not immediately respond to a follow-up query from WESA explicitly asking about whether he would be a “no” vote on it.” https://www.wesa.fm/politics-government/2022-09-13/proposal-to-limit-abortion-rights-nationwide-underscores-importance-of-issue-in-pa-senate-race |
Ron Johnson in Wisconsin seems to disagree with Graham and wants to leave it to the states. https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/politics/2022/09/13/johnson-baldwin-react-proposed-15-week-abortion-ban/10368703002/ Rather disingenuously, he wants Wisconsin voters to decide via referendum, but Wisconsin cannot change laws with a statewide referendum, and Wisconsin’s gerrymandered Republican legislature would need to approve a referendum on a constitutional amendment and they would never do that. https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/politics/2022/09/15/ron-johnsons-abortion-referendum-proposal-unlikely-to-change-law/10380993002/ |
North Carolina’s Ted Budd is all in on Graham’s bill: https://amp.newsobserver.com/news/politics-government/election/article265847886.html And so is Marco Rubio in Florida: https://www.politico.com/amp/news/2022/09/14/rubio-federal-abortion-ban-florida-dems-00056724 In Nevada, “Adam Laxalt campaign spokesman Brian Freimuth would not say whether Laxalt, if elected, would vote for Graham's 15-week ban.” https://www.governing.com/now/nevada-candidates-have-mixed-response-to-potential-abortion-ban?_amp=true In New Hampshire, Don Bolduc said this: “It doesn’t make sense,” Bolduc told Fox News, adding that abortion laws are better left to each individual state. “Women on both sides of the issue will get a better voice at the state level.” Of course Fox News didn’t appear to follow up and ask whether he would vote on Graham’s bill or not if elected . https://www.seacoastonline.com/story/news/politics/2022/09/14/nh-don-bolduc-pivots-15-week-abortion-ban-lindsey-graham-legislation-sen-hassan-speaks-out/10382632002/ |

Republican men seem to think they have a better chance of subjugating women at the state level.
Same reason the south is anti union. When the people get together, they have power. |
Thanks for the info. I think we can be pretty certain that any of these candidates would be happy to provide the deciding vote in favor of Graham’s bill. It’s all on the line now. Elections have consequences. |
