OP, are you a woman? You shoud be ashamed of yourself if you are. We have got to take the country and our lives back from these sexist, mysoginist pigs. What a hateful, horrible

man. If my kid were at Purdue (he's not, he's at a top 10 university, t thankfully), I would not pay another dime of tuition until this man releases a apology. Shameful.

OP here. Yes, I am a woman. Do you think the actual requests and commands that he mentions are appropriate? I hear this type of thing over and over from people who work in colleges and even at workplaces. The infantalizing of our adult children has to stop.

If he had a (D) by his name, they'd be cheering him on. This site says "park the helicopter" every time a parent asks a reasonable question on here about how to help their kids.

The outrage is right on cue and totally predictable. Can't have a Republican man stating truths! But a Democrat? Bring it on.

Oh, well, if we ever see a Republican man "stating truths" we can have this discussion. Right now, you know, you're just dealing entirely in hypotheticals.

I’m not Mitch Daniel’s fan. But just because I happen to disagree with him on pretty much everything politically does not mean he’s wrong here.

It amazes me how many seemingly intelligent people are unable to set aside their feelings about a person and focus on the content of what's being said. It's so childish and illogical.

It's the context.

I'm a PP and I knew nothing about this guy other than his current job as stated in the article. My reaction has nothing to do with my politics or his. All I know of him is what he wrote, and that's all I am responding to.

I had no idea who this guy was. I just recognized a sexist when I read the article. I’m in favor of policies that allow professors to ignore any parent communication, too, but that doesn’t mean I can’t spot a sexist when I see one.

Ha! Mitch Daniels "retiring" at Purdue. Doubt he will be penning a Father"s Day op-ed.

This is from 2013 but he’s not well received.

“Mitch is, was, and will always be a gutless, narcissistic, paranoid little Napoleonic dweeb. He cooked Indiana’s books and sold its parts to the highest bidder in order to show a “surplus.”

I think Daniels is awful, but on this, he wasn't wrong. Zinn was a socialist propaganda machine.

Late to this article and thread but I found it enlightening that the Mower Mom behavior continues well into college.

I see it starting in elementary school.
