Your home is not a hotel.

You’re right, tons more ways for a kid to get injured and tons more access from neighbors, package delivery guys, etc.

That’s the most desperate stretch in an attempt to justify.

I mean who is going to come knocking on a random hotel room door at 9pm at the Hilton? Vs come knocking on a neighborhood door at 330pm? No one is using a master key to get into a random hotel room hoping (fingers crossed!) that there is an unattended teen in there to molest as opposed to a big dude on a business trip or something.

Ahhhh, everyone has an anecdotal story.

No, wouldn’t do that either. Thanks for trying.

Wait you really wouldn’t allow a 16 year old to spend a few hours alone? You know some kids go to college at 17 I hope

The post they replied to asked about allowing a 16 year old to babysit your toddler.

“I wouldn’t do that EITHER” is what they said , actually. Meaning they wouldn’t leave them alone OR let them babysit.

About having some independence as a young teen, absolutely they do! About an attempted kidnapping from a hotel room as a 12 year old whose parent was in the lobby, you’re right; no one does.

“I mean”, “big dude”, “random”, “or something.”
Of course you being a teenager want your parent away.

Yes, independence as a teen is learned from being left in a hotel room.

They didn’t state age for leaving in hotel room, only age for babysitting toddler.

No kidding! Some times it’s warranted, this isn’t one of those times.

Maybe they're more concerned their kid won't behave appropriately when left alone, so it's easier to blame the remote possibility of stranger danger.

Interesting- that could be. Or they’re afraid that their kids are becoming older, I know many parents who seem terrified (but don’t realize that fact) of their kids growing up, probably because of what it means in terms of their own stage of life moving on.

Maybe you shouldn’t be so naive with your perfect angel kids.
