Lia Thomas - Will this change college sports for women or a nothingburger?

I too find this situation absurd but i dont understand why people are so up in arm about this. Why does it even matter?

You have got to be kidding me.

I say this as an Asian liberal who is ready to vote Republican in order to bring an end to what trans people are doing to women’s rights.

If racing against a 6’5 man is what Democrats think is fair for my daughter, then I think it’s fair for Democrats never to win again.

IDGAF what this person claims to believe about his gender, a biological male does NOT belong in women’s sports. You don’t solve men’s problems by stomping on women.

I agree but Republicans will take away voting rights. Abortion rights and many believe the election was stolen. So they are ruining democracy. That is scarier.

PP here. Allowing men in all-female spaces and gutting both Title VII and Title IX is MUCH worse than requiring voters to show ID to vote. Sit down and ponder the fact that our daughters are going to be shut out of fair athletic competition, already scarce research dollars for women’s health is being diverted to men identifying as women in the name of trans rights, and trans women are applying for and taking fellowships and opportunities in the sciences and fields women are grossly underrepresented in. Women’s shelters and clinics have been shut down because men self-IDing as trans women have insisted upon access to them, despite the terror that rape victims experience when men are given access to them. Women are being raped in prison by trans women and the courts are dismissing their lawsuits while trans women can sue for being raped by men. Wake the hell up.

Pause for a moment to think of every initiative intended to level the playing field for women and understand those are now in play for men to exploit under the guise of trans rights. The aggressiveness with which trans advocates push for measures that will clearly harm women and worsen our position is unacceptable.

Well said

Quite an unfortunate picture. She should have sat cross legged in front or something. Standing up like that, she looks like a hulking predator lurking behind unsuspecting women. I say this as someone sympathetic (though I think her races are a travesty and the NCAA is a disgrace for its sham rules).

Right. She should have sat like a lady. Haha, get it?

The behemoth is at least 6’4. By some accounts, the person is 6’5 and the person’s wingspan is more than a foot greater than that of the women the person beat. Fair, right?

One has to wonder what kind of parents raise such a person so devoid of morals and decency.

If Lia Thomas transition from male to female AFTER male hormones had an effect on the body, then this is no different than a female athlete using steroids to get bigger/stronger (which would be illegal) but it is ok since Lia is trans.

This is MUCH worse than a female athlete on steroids. At birth, men are already different, with larger hearts and lungs, greater bone density, higher hematocrit/hemoglobin, denser musculature. A testosterone-infused puberty makes those differences even more pronounced, but make no mistake: At no point are males and females ever the same or on a level playing field physically.

Aren’t the progressives always the ones screeching “science is real!”? Why isn’t it in this context?

That’s why I don’t consider myself a progressive anymore. They’re the Trumpists of the left. Complete lunatics.

Boys are allowed to participate in some girl sports up until 10-12 years old then they are banned due to physical differences and concern with safety. How liberals can't see that?

LGBTQ community has hijacked the feminist movement and have actually taken away hard fought gains that women have achieved over many many years! What a shame. And all these "feminist" who are afraid of being canceled don't speak out.

It’s the TQ community, not the LGB part.

Because it’s all connected. The essence of the movement is that we are to believe is that being a woman is a “feeling”, and if a person has that feeling, they should be permitted into any space that is exclusive to women. So women’s sports, women’s dressing rooms, women’s jail cells, women’s shelters, women’s locker rooms. Lia is one part of a trend that is happening all over. This is not an isolated incident.

Yeah, well, the LGBs need to get the TQs under control.

It’s a chapelle bit. It made a lot of people angry. I thought it was funny and true. The LGBs are basically at equality now

The TQs are going to screw the LGBs. Thanks to this trans bullshit, I have zero sympathy left for the LGBTQs. The TQs are also why the Equality Act is dead and shall remain dead. No one is going to let trans women enshrine their bullshit in federal law under the guise of gay rights.

+10000.

My sex is not a “feeling” and no man can know what being a woman feels like. Worst of all, there is no evidence at all supporting the idea that male and female brains are different or that transgender women’s brains are at all like women’s brains. This is phrenology in disguise.

Women’s rights are being hijacked by mentally ill men peddling complete falsehoods. It’s time for us to mount a massive backlash against this regressive, misogynistic movement.
