If you’ve ever paid attention to the Lincoln Project, you would know this stunt is right up their alley. It’s far more credible that this was an LP plan than a TM one.

Lincoln Project has better things to do than hire college students to run psy ops stunts in the rain for a failing gubernatorial campaign.

Really, they don’t. LP fell into disarray earlier this year when most of the original founders moved on to other things.

+1000. Youngkin would have handled Covid in the schools like DeSantis did in FL- schools open, vulnerable protected snd everyone much, much better off. If you know anyone in Florida with kids in school ask them how happy they are that their kids were not subjected to the madness.

Just like much of Europe did, schools open, no masks for kids under 12.

Many schools in Europe closed too.

Of course many did, but when they opened (most earlier than in the U.S. and many did not close), they had a sensible approach and most kids in Europe under 12 are not required to mask.

Teacher here again. This is a common talking point and not true. Private schools in the area have always had long wait lists. There are not a large amount of openings for a mass exodus from public schools. What could happen in an ideal world? More privates and charters could open, creating competition and forcing public schools to turn attention back to academics. This is a pie in the sky dream.

None of us are worried about jobs. There is a huge teacher shortage everywhere. Most public schools still have open positions. That tells you something about the current state of schools. If more schools open, that means even more jobs.

An ideal world like DCPS? They have lots of charters and they have school choice with their lottery system. They also have very high teacher pay.

Vouchers and school choice sound great on paper. In reality, they aren't good for students or academics.

Teacher back again. Last post. Over the past few years, I know 5 teachers who left public schools in VA to work in one of those DC charters. None returned. The issues in DC are different than in some of the Nova burbs and you know that but yes, same idea.

He never attended public schools at all. Catholic schools all the way through college and graduate school.

Not sure about Youngkin. He went to one of those private schools that push basketball. I'm guessing his kids went to private school, as well, but I couldn't easily find it.

Youngkin is listening to parents, though. McAuliffe is listening to Teachers' Unions.
