Total BS. DC area boys dominated - FACTS.

“Midway through the first quarter of the Under Armour Underclass Highlight Division championship, the spark came when Washington DC’s Kieran Anzelone (Bullis, Md. / Brown) picked off a Baltimore pass. The ball popped up high in the air, and Lehigh-bound Richard Checo (St. John’s, D.C.) tracked it down, catching it and sprinting downfield. On the fast break he fed attackman Witt Crawford (St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes, Va.), who buried The District’s second goal.

That ignited an explosion, as DC scored the next nine en route to a dominant 10-2 win.”

Also a lot of strong ‘23’s on the team

Looks like 23 DC Dogs are continuing the National domination. It is good to be a lacrosse player from the DMV.

DMV 22s and 23s are representing well.

DMV kids have gone to the super teams on the club scene LI kids haven't figured this out yet.

But to be fair. DMV kids also on average older. DMV kids start school grade age on 9/1. LI starts on 12/1. Giving an extra 1/4 year in actual age

How do you factor in hold-backs?

Good intel about the LI comparison.

Georgetown Prep has kids on their roster who are turning 19 in September and October and November of their senior year. It’s a joke

It’s a benefit of private school - their parents paid for it. Capitalism.

These are HS kids does four months really matter? The team also has several 23’s some who attend public school and on age. The UA team crushed the Baltimore team they likely has as many or more holdbacks. Age was not a factor. The DC team was just far better than all the other teams.

This is all grade based right, there's no age restrictions right? Having a few on age kids on the roster may not make up the the age margin that DC has.

Don’t stir up that MD/Prep holdback discussion…..

Word is that Prep has 3 multi-year holdbacks in their 20's. 2 of them have kids of their own and I hear a Prep booster is paying for the babysitting!!

Also hearing that Bullis just brought in Paul Rabil to play next year; somehow he has an extra year of high school eligibility through some IAC loophole.

It is so unfair. It can't be that my kid isn't good enough and didn't work hard enough. It has to be unfair.

Holdback whiners have no idea how much work a kid puts in, the sacrifices he makes, and the more than a little bit of luck that goes into a path to top level lacrosse. 3-12 months of age can't overcome that. Not saying it is completely irrelevant (kids are doing it for a reason), but it is such a small part of the formula yet receives such outsized complaining.

Look again at the IL's list of top 22's. 8 out of the top 10 will be 18 years old when they graduate HS. A few months here or there is not why these kids are where they are. A few months here or there is not why other kids aren't on that list.

Spend more time worrying about what matters and what you can control and you may find a better outcome than through just whining.
