Single Issue Voter: Controlling The Borders

Too bad it took blue cities being inundated with illegal immigrants to make them aware of what's been happening at the border for many years. And of course, progressive Democrats are probably not going to go for this - anything that smacks of too much common sense will never pass muster with that crowd.

For several weeks, a bipartisan group of senators has been trading proposals on changes to the asylum system. Unlike in previous efforts to reach a bipartisan immigration compromise, Democrats in the group haven’t conditioned their support for a deal on legalization for the population of immigrants living in the country illegally, such as the immigrants known as Dreamers who were brought to the country as children.

Moderate Democrats and some of Biden’s top advisers in the White House believe that, with recent pleas for help from blue-state governors and mayors facing large migrant populations resettling in their cities, the politics on the issue have shifted. In the past few weeks, White House officials have quietly been reaching out to prominent immigration advocates to prepare them for compromises they might find unsavory.

Republican lawmakers and White House officials have separately homed in on the change to the initial asylum screening standard as a key step to quickly weed out strong asylum claims—and deport those who don’t qualify. The current standard for asylum claims is an immigrant’s “credible fear” of persecution in their home country, which is seen roughly as any chance above 10%. Raising that bar and mandating more evidence from migrants would block more people from the asylum path.

The idea was also included in an initial border proposal released by Republicans in early November, a sweeping opening-bid offer that largely mirrors a House GOP border bill known as H.R. 2 that passed the House in May. That measure includes other ideas such as continuing to build Trump’s border wall and forming safe-third-country agreements to send asylum seekers to other countries instead.

I guess it’s better they wake up now rather than never. For those of us that have seen the writing on the wall for some time with all of this it’s frightening! If you don’t think this is an epic failure of our national security you’re truly asleep.

This is an example of an issue where the far left has had full control of Biden. The bolded paragraph speaks volumes.
Biden has been willing to allow millions of illegal immigrants into our country because nobody "significant" was complaining. He has been catering to the far left people in his party. Now that prominent Democrats are complaining, he is considering changing course.
He is willing to risk our national security until his allies start whining. This is not what a true leader does. I cannot wait for him to be gone. And, all those pulling the strings out with him.

Border Crisis Costs American Taxpayers $451 Billion Annually, House GOP Report Claims

The southern border crisis costs American taxpayers around $451 billion per year for services provided to a record number of illegal aliens under the Biden administration, according to one estimate a Republican-led investigation cites.

Let's see now. How much is this illegal immigration costing per year...

$451 Billion divided by 330,000,000 citizens in the U.S. = a $1,366 per citizen / per year

This should be enough to have these people deported immediately, but that won't happen. They will get a slap on the wrist and continue to commit crimes in our country.

And, this is trend that is worsening in Chicago, and in other cities no doubt:

The number of Venzuelan-born people arrested by Chicago police this year is up 2,538% compared to 2022, according to data provided by the police department. It’s up 11,333% compared to 2021.

As of November 12, CPD arrested 686 people this year who listed Venezuela as their birthplace, according to data provided by the department in response to our Freedom of Information Act request. That compares to 26 for all of last year and just six in 2021.

I have an idea! Become a moderate democrat and add your voice to the chorus of people demanding a major change in policy on immigration. Sounds like Biden is listening, so go for it!

This is not incompetence. Not after 3 years of this crap. This is intentional. Biden is negligent in his obligation to protect the American people.

People want the US to stop being involved in solving crises around the world, then wonder why we are dealing with our part of the worldwide migration crisis.

Those poor kids need to eat and need some warm closing. I am so happy that Chicago law enforcement is not enforcing their laws and allow these people not to starve. Chicago is a sanctuary city and they are taking care of these poor kids.

It really is out of control. I visited San Diego to see family members. They say so many migrants are being dumped in San Diego by overwhelmed border control agents. They have always had migrants since it’s a border city but the past year is was different than other years. There are people from literally all over the globe- Venezuela, China, India, Mauritania, Turkey, Burkina Faso, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Iran, etc.

This is from one newspaper reported who has reported on the border for years.

“On a patch of grass at a bus and trolley station on Iris Avenue, a half dozen women from Vietnam hovered over cellphones. In the parking lot, a group of men from Senegal tried to figure out how to get to the airport without money. They told me they were robbed in Mexico. On the sidewalk, a man from Guatemala spoke on the phone in a Mayan language to his father in Riverside County. A man from Eritrea sat on the curb, lacing his shoes.

U.S. Border Patrol agents had just dropped them off and they were struggling to find their way. Many of them didn’t have money or working cell phones – just U.S. immigration court documents and pieces of paper with hand-written addresses and phone numbers.”

https://voiceofsandiego.org/2023/09/18/border-report-migrants-from-all-over-the-world-are-at-our-border/

All these people are posting on social media to their friends and family how they were able to easily enter the US after making a dangerous journey. The easiest part of the trip was walking over the border. So this is inspiring more and more people to come. Some migrants are great for this country but everyone can see - Republican or Democrat that this is out of control.

Ukraine war is would quickly be over if not for the US, and no asylum seekers.
Venezuela would have been much better off without US imposed sanctions that led to the exodus we are now seeing
Just saying

Another enormous line of hundreds upon hundreds of adult men from around the globe crossed illegally into Lukeville, AZ last night, and are now waiting for Border Patrol to take custody of them, as they expect to be released into US. Non-stop flow of illegal crossings here.

As the migrant surge in Lukeville continues, there are concerns about the environmental impact.

Environmentalists, wildlife experts and officials fear the trash left behind could harm wildlife in that area and cause long-term issues if it is not picked up.
