Official Brett Kavanaugh Thread

Trump’s involvement, on the other hand, poses a serious risk for his party. Kavanugh’s allies have been straining for months to keep him quiet, to keep the Trump stink off their once-pristine nominee. Having a confessed sexual assailant and symbol of retrograde misogyny compare Kavanaugh to himself is the last thing they need.

Exactly. I'm still trying to wrap my mind against all these Republicans saying there is no proof. Our president was caught on tape saying it's OK to grab people's pussies when you're a star and they won't stop you . . . zero issue of proof of his misogyny there. It's not like y'all care about proof.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) alleged on Wednesday that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh was not truthful with senators earlier this month when he said he never violated grand jury secrecy laws during his time working for independent counsel Kenneth Starr.

Feinstein, the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, told Politico that she obtained a memo from the National Archives that showed Kavanaugh instructing a colleague in the Starr investigation two decades ago to call reporter Chris Ruddy about matters before the grand jury.

Such an action would violate laws that prevent disclosure of grand jury information. Feinstein claimed to Politico that the memo also conflicts with Kavanaugh's testimony earlier this month that he never broke those rules.

What took her so long?

Democrats on the committee had to sue the National Archives to get the documents.

To those who think these accusers have something to gain, please point me to the list of alleged assault victims who weren't ostracized from their industries and communities for decades after coming forward against a public figure.

Of course Kavanaugh doesn't remember her! He was Big Man on Campus and she was just some chick for him to score with. The nameless girls know who the big shot jocks are. The fact that he doesn't know these girls is not remotely probative of anything.

Exactly. How frustrating, if unsurprising, that the GOP has been so obstructive and secretive about this candidate that the Dems had to pursue these documents via lawsuit.

Stop acting like people from other less 'elite' locations wouldn't be stoked to go to G-Prep party. You went there to meet boys! Not to get gang raped...Kavanaugh and his ilk considered these public school girls easy targets.

You're suggesting public school girls threw themselves at rich cocky alpha male boys. "Meet boys"

I was a teenage public school girl from MoCo (though a bit later) and all of my friends thought finding a private school boyfriend was desirable. Looking back on it, I'm not sure why we thought this. Perhaps the allure of the unknown?

What's so despicable is I would bet my savings that the people on this thread who don't believe these victims believed EVERY.ONE of the victims of Weinstein, Lauer, Rose, and so on.

My guess is you learned at a young age that it's desirable to marry into a wealthy family

This is my recollection as well.

You recall public school gold diggers being easy?

Gold diggers? Decidedly not. Interested in new boys that we didn't go to school with? Decidedly yes.

To be fair there are entitled rapists in all walks of life. I think we wanted to meet new boys that weren't the same old boys we'd known our entire lives.

Back in the day, private school wasn't too expensive to be out of the reach of middle class families. This was even more the case for Catholic schools which tend to be less expensive than other types of independent schools.
