That decision will prolong the shutdown. It’s an overt act.
the democrats will not supporting affirmation of the BBB which they had no part in crafting.
Spin it any way you want. There will be a vote to open the government. If Democrats vote it down it’s on them.
No one needs to spin anything. Poll after poll shows people blame Republicans for the shutdown.
You are right, but Dems have an often misunderstood (or ignore) what the people are trying to say. Most notably what independents want. The Dems win but believe they have a mandate for everything they’re putting forth and then we get … Trump 1.0. Then to moderate that we get Biden. Then Trump 2.0. We’ll get Dem XYZ next but they’ll misread the people again. Ugh.
Just has very “you made me angry so now I’m going to hit you”vibes. We live in a two party system. If you are lucky, you get to occasionally vote for someone you like. If not you vote for the lesser of two evils. And you certainly don’t vote for someone who says they will be a dictator on day one.
What are you smoking? It can stay 2 party. Just want two different parties.
+ 1 million I'm convinced people think the two entities currently controlling our two-party system are public entities that can't be left to fail. They are in fact failing dysfunctional PRIVATE entities that should be allowed to fail unless there is some magical way for them to be completely overhauled and reformed.
Sure, and then the next duopoly can just repeat the process after a few years or maybe a generation of good(ish) government. Its probably past time to re-evaluate how we do democracy and even if democracy is the right answer.
Mighty optimistic of you to think there will be a decade of good governance. It will simply be a rebrand, except less chips and more air in the bag.
No, because there should always be a plan to eject the major parties when they stop working for the people. Right now, they have no threat and no reason to improve. They need each other and keep each other in power. I don’t know what that looks like practically but the two existing parties need to go.
For example see the thread on the VA AG. People identify with their party over everything, so candidate quality matters less and less.
That’s because one party represents an existential threat to American democracy. When/if Republicans stop embracing crazy, we can go back to voting for the best person rather than the party.
No, after we stop the first threat we then turn our eyes to the other. Don’t think your slimey politicians can get away with things. You know they are salivating at the idea of using Trump tactics on their opposition. The madness needs to end.
What??
