Our kid was denied - what was your student's profile, if you don't mind sharing?

So sorry. My first had some disappointments but ended up very happy and doesn’t think twice about the places where he didn’t get in. Yours will find the place.

4.0/4.93 in an aggressive AP-heavy schedule at a solid public. No score. Lots of ECs but nothing over the top. Extremely committed student. Worries me sometimes.

Thank you so much, Swarthmore parent! My kid is actually pretty sanguine about it, which is great/a relief. Congrats to your DC & appreciate your kindness!

For the parent of the soon-to-be Swarthmore student -- stay in touch with them. I'm a grad and the place can get pretty intense. Most of the students are used to be the best at their school and some of the classes/professors are extraordinarily challenging. Great school, but being small it can be easy to lose perspective when you are there. Try to encourage involvement in clubs, sports, etc. if possible!

DS’s has two friends who got in. One double legacy and one first gen poc. One friend who got flat out reject despite being a poc w perfect stats and IMPRESSIVE ECs. It’s a crapshoot I suppose.

Deferred at Brown PLME, which is a real bummer because it was a good fit.

Time to choose ED2. It is obnoxious and expensive to apply to all those schools which are all at baseline the same. Gah.

Nephew rejected from Brown. Disappointed, but knew it was a reach. He has already moved on!

Also deferred from Tulane. DC is fine with it, only applied because counselor suggested it and definitely didn't show more than a cursory interest. I'm more disappointed than DC because I think it's a great school. In at Fordham and a handful of UK schools.

It's an incredibly incredibly competitive program.

Very thoughtful post, thank you. Yes she is pretty intense and I will make sure I keep in touch with her state of mind. She knows exactly what she signed up for but that doesn’t mean the adjustment be easy. Thanks again.

Can you share your stats? How competitive is the PLME?

If not PLME,
Do they consider them for undergraduate admission?

Wow, DC was denied with those stats? I am shocked. She will get in someplace else great!
