Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)

The logic here is very clear:
should boys be allowed freely into girl's bathroom? no. should girls be allowed freely into boy's bathroom? no. So if we give transkids their bath room, should they be allowed into boy's or girl's bathroom? apparently no. Is that going to work? Unlikely (think about the political implications of such "restrictions" against transkids). So MCPS should either do nothing - just ask transkids to go to the proper bathroom according to their current registered gender; or to remove restrictions on all bathrooms. Personablly I would prefer the former. But from MCPS point of view in avoiding lawsuits, they may choose the latter. |
Why do you have such low expectations for boys? I'm willing to bet that boys in MS/HS are more compassionate then many girls. Give them a chance. I'm sure they'd handle the situation at least as well as the girls. |
And, frankly, kids these days are much more mature about these types of things. They will handle it MUCH MUCH better than the parents. It won't be a big deal in the end. A lot of drama for nothing. |
Why do we want to spend money rebuilding the bathrooms in schools just to give the boys a chance to test out the new unisex bathrooms? |
What do you mean "just to give boys the chance"? Why do you think that is the goal? |
DP Wow. This PP is so woke, she refers to women who disagree with him/her as ‘hysterical cows’. Classy. |
Only when they act like hysterical cows. |
Well, it’s not really just all or nothing. Trans kids can have access to their own bathroom. Most parents don’t have issue with that. That’s much easier than redoing all the bathrooms in every school as co-ED restrooms. |
That's one reason why there's toilet paper in the stalls? |
I was only suggesting that cannot be a valid goal. If we don't have another valid goal, why do it? |
That is not the point. The point is once they have their own bathrooms, whether the school would still allow transkids to go to boy's or girl's bathrooms? If yes, why do they have such a freedom that our boys or girls don't? And why should we allow someone with a different "gender selection" to be in our boys' or girls' bathrooms? If no, wait for their parents to sue... |
Montgomery County Public Schools, Maryland’s largest school system, plans to look into the cost of of putting more “all-gender” bathrooms in schools. “We’ll take a look at retrofit as well as construction,” Montgomery County Public Schools CEO Andrew Zuckerman told school board members at a meeting last week. Zuckerman brought up the issue after a Bethesda mother of two high school children asked the board to consider it. She said it should be considered for children who are uncomfortable about using gender-specific restrooms. “This means no girls’ rooms and no boys’ rooms — just restrooms,” she said. “Kids are afraid to use the bathrooms because of bullying. This (all-gender bathrooms) is the answer for nonconforming kids and all kids who do not use the bathroom during the school day.” The all-gender bathrooms being advocated would include private stalls. “This is not a new concept,” she said. “We all have this in our own homes and many restaurants have this too.” Zuckerman said he would soon be able to provide more information about the potential cost and logistics of adding more all-gender bathrooms to schools. |
It's not "our boys or girls", on the one hand, and "their transkids", on the other. Some of "our boys or girls" are trans. |
| I Unisex bathroom at a MS and HS?? Cmon guys, please. You know how teenagers are. Even if you raised a perfect little angel, it doesn't mean others have. Do you need examples? WHy can't we just leave the restrooms alone and if need be, build a bathroom near the school office, a unisex, single, small, Starbucks style bathroom with a toilet and sink inside? |
You can use terms like "our boys, our girls, our transkids" too. My questions do not depend on the terminology and they are still valid, right? |
