How does Trayon White still have a job?

Yes, there are some truly disgusting comments here and I would love to know if the folks posting them are from this area or not.

What f**** difference does it make ?

It makes a difference to me. I'd like to know if these are posters from Ward 8, White's peers, or just the general public. In other words, are they people with a vested interest in supporting White?

I'll go out on a limb here and say there's strong possibility that no one from ward 8 reads Dcum

Because no such thing has happened. Get back to me when you are ready to discuss reality.

I'm completely ready to "discuss reality." Here is what White said: “And D.C. keep talking about, ‘We a resilient city.’ And that’s a model based off the Rothschilds controlling the climate to create natural disasters they can pay for to own the cities, man. Be careful.”

I'm dumbfounded that anyone with even the slightest awareness of history could suggest this is not anti-Semitic.

It is only anti-Semitic if you know that the Rothschilds are Jewish and are part of historical anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. If you don't know such things -- and it appears that White didn't -- it is no different than as if he had blamed the weather on the Smith family.

Yes, it is hard to believe that he was unaware of the religion of the Rothschilds, but I have run into other DC natives -- some quite well educated -- who also didn't know anything about the Rothschilds. You are confusing ignorance with anti-Semitism.

Moreover, White has not espoused his moronic conspiracy theory "at every public opportunity" and nor has he "doubled down on them". To the contrary, he apologized and engaged in an effort to educate himself about anti-Semitism. Given your misunderstanding of White's actions, it appears that White may not be the only one speaking from a position of ignorance.

I don't misunderstand anything. Hate speech is hate speech. Ignorance is not a justification for disseminating vile conspiracy theories, especially about an ethnic or racial group. And his behavior at the Holocaust Museum was worse than doubling down. He walked out on his tour guide after making attempts to justify Nazi barbarism. That's not "an effort to educate himself about anti-Semitism."

Why are you defending him?

DP point to me the exact phrase where Mr White explicitly blames Jews for the climate manipulation .

That's why he was elected, that's why he'll be reelected, and that's why he deserves to be a councilman. Because he's been busting his hump for his neighbors to try and make Ward 8 a better place for the people who live there since he was 20.

I've been familiar with and watched Trayon White from a modest distance for my entire career as a journalist in DC. There are very few people his age who have given more of themselves to DC. He reminds me very much of the young, idealistic Marion Barry of the late 70's.

The fact that he doesn't conform to your white-biased standards of opinion, manner and conduct with regards to topics relevant to white people, is meaningless.

So what if he's less than informed about or even casually indifferent to the Holocaust? That's not his struggle. Black people endured their own holocaust, and some still are enduring it in many ways. That's what Trayon White cares about.

Seeking your approval is pointless to him. As it should be.

Thank you. I heard Trayon White speak at the DC Council meeting about the new comprehensive plan. It was crystal clear that he cares and understands deeply about the people and work that he cares about.

White supremacist deeply care about white people. That doesn't excuse or justify their hatred of everyone else.

Jeff, no offense, but the Councilmember has an undergraduate and graduate degree from fine, accredited universities. He is not an uneducated rube. As such, I simply cannot believe that he doesn't know the nature of his comments.

Further, the fact that he is monetarily supporting Rev. Farrakhan speaks volumes.

Actions speak louder than words.

I don't care from which universities he graduated. Anyone who is ignorant enough to believe that a single family controls the weather is also ignorant enough not to know the religion of the Rothschilds. His contribution to the NOI cannot be justified and he should suffer the legal ramifications. But, contributing to an organization that provides needed services in his community is not by definition an anti-Semitic act (it could be, but there is no evidence in this case that it was).

He did not attempt to justify Nazi barbarism. That is an outright lie. If White is espousing anti-Semitism "at every public opportunity" as you falsely claimed, you would not have to lie to support your allegation. I am defending White against false allegations. I am doing so because I think the truth is better than lies. I think there are enough truthful reasons to criticize White and demand that he be held accountable for his actions and it is not necessary -- and actually counter-productive -- to invent falsehoods about him. The real question is why you are so determined to lie about him?

How did he graduate from "fine, accredited universities" without ever hearing about or learning about the Holocaust?

"White said in the video that he never learned about the Holocaust in school."

Different poster here, but didn't he tell the docent that he thought the nazi stormtroopers were protecting that woman? Something like "looks like protection to me"? Sounds like he was willfully refusing to accept the reality that they were humiliating her. So I think it is not too far off to claim he was trying to justify nazi barbarism by denying it.

Nothing is invented - you apparently don't read the Post, Jeff. White repeatedly told the tour guide that he thought a photo of Nazi stormtroopers showed them "protecting" a girl who was obviously being abused, even after he was corrected by a museum guide. That's justifying Nazi barbarism.

Why are you defending him (and disparaging anyone who criticizes him as a liar)? Enough already. He is a disgrace.

White asked a question about a photo. He asked it one time, not "repeatedly". He misunderstood what was happening in the photo, but that is far from justifying Nazi barbarism. Again, if White is espousing anti-Semitism "at every public opportunity" you would be able to provide a lot better examples than this. If you think I'm disparaging you as a liar, maybe consider how White feels about being wrongly disparaged as an anti-Semite. I have a lot more evidence of your lying than you have of his anti-Semitism.

As I said, there are plenty of reasons to oppose White. But, there is no need to invent false reasons.

I think the reporter got that wrong. I've listened to White's video twice and what I heard him say is that he had gone to the Holocaust Museum when he was a kid in school. He says that near the beginning and maybe he said something different toward the end (I keep getting distracted while watching it and maybe missed something later on), but that would not be consistent with what I heard him say.

I'm with you, PP. Those of us who are appalled by the seeming acceptance (excuse, denial, whatever) of White's obvious hostility toward Jews have all sorts of awful (and false) motives assigned to us. I myself, a Jew who has seen her fair share of antisemtitsm, was accused of not really caring about antisemtism at all but merely trying to stir tensions between Jews and blacks. Yet, the black Democrat who so obviously has negative feelings toward Jews, and whose repeated infractions started all this, s provided with all sorts of justification and excuses for his behavior.

The antisemtitsm on the liberal side comes in a "soft" form such as we've seen here......willingness to overlook it (aka Farrakhan), excuses for it (ignorance), or outright denial (the Nazi was protecting the abused girl). And we see that denial on this thread, too.

Even saying that White needs to go, but for reasons other than antisemtitism, is still denying it exists.

When you accuse someone of justifying Nazi barbarism it gives the impression that the individual justified the use of gas chambers and mass murder. That is a very vile charge to make against someone. It is not appropriate to make such an allegation when your best evidence is in fact not a justification, but rather "not too far off". It had better not be off at all.

If you watch White's video on Facebook, he speaks in detail about the horrors he saw documented at the museum. He does not justify or deny any of it.
