Glad to see Trayon is standing up for his constituents during the Council's crucial budget voting by ... taking a vacation in Cabo?

What do you think a "constituent services fund" is for? |
That's because the Jewish members know that if they speak out against antisemtitism, there will be politicsl backlash. Why else did they laugh (uncomfortsbly, I'm sure) when A.S.* White tested out his antisemtitic conspiracy theory at a council meeting? He knew that the Jews were afraid to call him out. Anti-Semite |
And will Ward 8 re-elect him? It will be telling. |
Will be telling that we've truly entered the Age of Trump where non-PC politicians can say all types of rude, crude, insensitive, and demeaning things and still get elected because all that matters is appealing to the base. Worked for #45. |
Nope, sorry.....nice whataboutism,,,,.but you don't get to blame Trump when a Democratic politician reveals blatant antisemitism, or associates with Farrakhan. (This was happening long before Trump.) Adults are responsible for their own actions. |
Nobody's blaming Trump just calling out the culture of politics these days. Average everyday citizens are mandated to be PC but politicians can say whatever they want so long as it doesn't upset their base. You don't have to like it but you better learn to accept it because that's just how it is now. |
+1. This is not new. |
| He has a $100/per seat, black tie, "birthday" party allegedly for the constituent services fund...then jets off to a (real) gated community (e.g. not the Warsaw Ghetto which he believes to be some sort of Real Housewives setting) in Cabo. I hate to quote George Bush, but this is the ultimate "soft bigotry of low expectations. This man has a college degree from the U.MD. - but can't be expected to know Jews don't control weather or basic facts about Holocaust (or care enough to listen/learn); take constituent services funds and gives to Nation of Islam; throws expensive, black tie birthday fetes in poorest ward in city; posts photos of himself on luxury vacay while his constituents are experiencing uptick in shootings, chronic unemployment, child hunger, etc. His fellow council members try to educate him in lukewarm way and then fade away. The mayor says nothing. What an embarrassment. |
Why are they increasing the ride sharing tax by 600%? That's insane! |
Partly because the DC cabbies and the cab owners are pissed off at Uber and Lyft, and they carry some political weight in DC. The ride share services are also seen by some politicians as a tempting target, so tailor the impact of the tax at certain demographics in DC, without annoying the base. A bit like taxing yoga studio visits but not junk food. |
He has a degree from UMES, not UMD. That's barely a step up from a UDC degree. |
| It's a division of UMD, it's like U of M-Flint. Not as good as Ann Arbor, but still in U of M system. |
| And i guess Jim Graham was a saint... |
I'm pretty sure the reason he got voted out of office -- in favor of a not-very-bright replacement -- was because he WASN'T a saint. Then he died. Not sure how he's at all relevant to the current conversation, considering his state of non-existence (though Trayon should also be voted out of office, so there's that). |
