Have you ever been personal friends with a seriously famous person?

I wouldn’t call them friends though. They were very close with some of my very good friends (who own too NYC nightclubs), so i was often at the same table with them and hanging out and hating with them. They all know my name and would stop to chat if I crossed them on the street. . But it wasn’t like I had their number or called them up.

I was in fact good friends with Puff (P Diddy but friends still call him Puff), Danny masterson, Tara Reid, David Blaine, Pharrell, Harvey Weinstein (hesitated naming this one and definitely not a fan or friend anymore),Caleb Followill, Robin Thicke, and a number of the big Victoria Secret models.

Besides these people I have met countless other celebrities from A-list to D-list but didn’t hang out with them more than once (or at all besides being introduced) and I doubt they would remember me.

Why all past tense?

Entered a very conservative career was the first retraction from that lifestyle, then quit my "fun" vices, then got married, then moved to DC, then had kids and can now barely stay up past 10pm unless i have to finish something for a client at my desk. I'm not the same person I was then and don't dabble in the same scene. I slowly lost contact until i couldn't care less anymore about the effort to keep them up. I'm still very close with the mutual friends and I still exchange birthday sentiments with my closest of the famous friends, but all in all, I just grew out of that scene.

To pp who asked- i have bookS worth of fantastic super juicy stories but I would never tell. As for Harvey, I'll just say I'm not surprised. In contrast, there is another one of my good friends from the past who has recentlY been the subject of similar allegations and i deeply don't believe the allegations are true based on my experience and very close relationship with the person. I would actually bet a lot that the allegations are complete BS.

Joe was my sister's favorite 80s sitcom teen hearthrob, along the level of famousness as Ricky Schroeder, Kirk Cameron or Michael J Fox! Her boss never refered to him by name, just as an old friend. Imagine her surprise when she walked into the restaurant and saw who he was.

She texted me that night from the restaurant bathroom, a 40 something year old woman going "Omg, omg, omg!!! I am eating dinner with (insert 80s hearthrob name)!!!"

She ended up nannying for them all week. She did not get any pictures or autographs because she was working but she really wanted to. She was like a giggly 13 year old girl pouring over Teen Beat magazines all week.

She said he was very nice and very down to earth, and it was really like a bunch of old college friends getting together.

She was startstruck, but to her boss it really was just Average Joe dropping by to spend the week.

The guy is still active in the entertainment industry, and still good looking. He is an actor that people would still recognize today.

She got to chat with him throughout the week, and he was just as nice as can be. It was fun for her but for her boss it was just a regular friend who just happened to be a star.

Her boss was not someone famous btw. Just someone on a generic upper middle class career. She just happened to meet him at college somewhere, the dorm, a class, a party, who knows and they became lifelong friends.

Agreed. Lame. Although hardly any 80s heartthrobs went to college so it shouldn't be too hard to narrow down. The only two I can think of are John Cusack (NYU) and Judd Nelson (Haverford).

None of the other suggestions -- Scott Baio, Michael J. Fox, Kirk Cameron, Ricky Schroeder, Mark-Paul Gosselaar -- went to college.

I just realized it said 80s sitcom heartthrob so that rules out Judd and John C. who were movies. I've got nothing.

I've been friends with and attended school with and worked with the children ofa famous comedian, a famous composer, and a famous general. Oo, and concern promoter and black panther. I only met two of the famous parents though, and to be honest, it always made me uncomfortable. Maybe more than it should.

HAHAHA! When I was younger OF COURSE! Now I'm basically a grandma in that circle and no know one cool anymore. But its normally at least 60 percent true. One thing that is true (and I'm ashamed that I played part in it) is wives are mean to "girlfriends." I got swept up into that culture and I regret it. My piece of paper makes me no better! Ive grown in the last decade, thankfully!

You sound nice. The older I get (mid 40s) the more I regret every being bitchy to anyone (except other bitchy people). I'm basically a nice person, but could be catty a few times often under the influence of others. I regret it. Yes one grows and changes.

Personal friends with a couple writers, a couple musicians, and one sports figure. All of them became household names after we lost touch (although in each case, it was clear they were going to be big in their fields). So I didn't get any of the special treatment--I only get to say, "Oh, I used to hang out with him" when he shows up on TV. :/
