Kind of cruel, retired AART. From the outside, it looks like such confusing, inconsistent process. People are just trying to understand and do right by their kids.

And they are helping the AART teachers now. Think how many additional questions they'd get otherwise.

This AAP process is mind boggling to navigate for parents not familiar with the process. Our school's AART had the info session during the work day so we couldn't attend. I've cobbled together how it works from this forum and it's been very helpful.

Agree. The biggest problem I'm having is that according to dcum, my child is either slam dunk (high WISC FSIQ, high CogAT composite (both around 99.5th percentile), probably very high GBRS) or a likely rejection (low verbals: low 110s on CogAT and low 120s on WISC). That just shows that no one (including me) has a clue how the process works.

GBRS is the only unknown number at this point.

If both scores are more than 145 I would be shocked to see a low GBRS. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Thanks for positive response. Even I would be shocked to see a low GBRS. I saw the GBRS categories and the kid will get high score in that too. But how about non-academic behavior in the class? Will it have an impact on GBRS?

22182, we received in-pool letter 3-4 days ago and Cogat 2 days ago. Which letter you are waiting on? Have checked with AART? Hope you have done parent referral.

I am a parent outside the process (not in Fairfax) but who finds it fascinating since I grew up in county when the program was GT and had many fewer kids, I have read the AAP threads for years.

Actually, a lot of the same advice is repeated in threads year after year and seems to bear out and be true. Sure, there are always some outlier advice or some crazy stories of admission but I think any competitive process has those.

There are always parents who point out their AART was not very helpful or rude - perhaps you were one of those? If you were so bitter or didn't like dealing with parents for this process, why did you take the job as AART to begin with? Seems fooloish to be in a position if you look down on the parents and kids and have no interest in helping.

Nope. My kids NNAT was low. I really just want to know her Cogat score.
