15

Nope, way high

You are incorrect. The number 15 is exactly right. Fifteen girls left the NCS class of 2021, at the end the 2016-2017 school year and their last year in the MS (8th), to move to other day and boarding schools including Bullis, Visi, Sidwell, St George's, Deerfield, and several others.

But a few always plan to leave then for boarding school, so the number leaving because of the toxic environment in that particular class was slightly less than 15.

Do you know if any of the girls are going to Holton or Stone Ridge? TIA

Both but much more of first.

I'm sure there were many who decided to leave. However, unless you're an administrator in the school, I'd be very leery of gossip among parents regarding this. Some parents may claim they have chosen to remove their children from the school to hide the fact they were actually asked to leave. Saving face is important for these types of people.

Sounds like the school IS being proactive by asking these girls to not apply for 9th. Kuddos!

Sweetheart, students who are already at a school in 8th grade don't have to "apply for 9th." But thanks for the random comment.

My daughter is in this class, and yes 15 girls left. A handful for boarding school. None were asked to leave.

Unless you are an administrator at the school, you have no idea if students were or were not asked to leave.

Is this number typical or higher than usual?

"Current 8th graders at NCS applying out for 9th" made a big mistake.

My completely biased opinion says the mix of scholar and spiritual makes this the best school in America.

From the sound of this thread it seems like some girls at NCS don't take the spiritual part too seriously. I found this to be true at another school that was Catholic - some of the meanest girls appeared to be so spiritual during the day, while playing mean girls on the side. My daughter has loved her non-denominational school with people of many beliefs and finds them to be kinder overall. I'm sure NCS is lovely for some but clearly there is no universal experience.

In a summer camp, NCS middle school girls bragged about how they have deliberately flushed their phones to the toilette and lied to their parents and got their new phones.

If I ran NCS and I saw kids leaving bc of bullying, I would would have those bullies and their parents into my office and say, there's nice girls and there's mean girls and the mean girls has gost to go. By the time I was done, there wouldnt be a mean girl left. This is an elite private school for Christ's sake- I expect this at inner city public high, but here? Come on now. The parents could stop this in 1 second.

The so called "mean girls" who leave NCS are the free-spirit, carpe diem, adventurous gals. The Man, or in this case, the Wo-Man has done their best to suppress this joi de vivre. Revenge of the Nerds. But at the end of the day, the Nerds lose out. The gals who left will be having the last laugh, with the hot husbands, fat bank accounts, and exciting lives.

Anyone who has attended at 10 year high school graduation knows that is false.

You must be the mother of one of the "mean girls". You may have been the role model for your girl, and have been telling her that you have a hot husband, fat bank account, ... so vive La Carpe Diem-ism (at the expense of her classmates)!
