Current 8th graders at NCS, applying out for 9th?

When the season starts again, this thread or one like it will be a hotbed of activity as parents to try to maximize their chances of admission by posting negatives on an anonymous blog. Good luck with that. There just aren't enough seats.

Sadly, I don't think the nastiness is that strategic. Seemingly more a combination of pot stirrers and people with an ax to grind.

No one responded to an earlier question that was posted, but I know lots of people would be interested to know what the schools reaction/punishments were to the 8th grade students that cyberbullyed an incoming student at the end of the school year. Does anyone know?

Let's assume that the school doesn't police what girls text to each other in group chats and nothing happened. Although, I don't know for sure but that's the worst case scenario, right?

I don't think everyone would be so nonchalant if it was their child who was ruthlessly cyber bullied. This is despicable behavior, totally unacceptable, and shines an embarrassingly bad light on the offending girls, their parents, and the school.

Depends on who was bullied because money speaks to the HOS.

Bullying and mass exodus...perhaps change of leadership?

To be clear, there was no cyber bullying. A girl was talked about pretty harshly by girls on a group text and she found out. It's still awful, and those girls sound horrible, but that does not equal cyber bullying.
Anonymous
It became cyber bullying when the text was forwarded to the girl.

Agreed. The intent was to humiliate an innocent girl. Were these girls expelled? Is that why so many people left NCS this year?

It should be clear by now that trying to use the school as a bludgeon against the girls and their families is not a productive endeavor.

Please define "productive behavior" in this particular situation.

I am just curious what happened? Hoping this has finally gotten NCS to take bullying seriously.

There's only so much a school can do. The real solution starts with the parents at home, where most of the online mischief is done.

Interesting thought. Maybe these schools should bring parents (whose kids engaged in this stuff) together to talk about what they are doing wrong and how it can be helped. Saying not much a school can do is a cop out. If parents refused..sirt of brutal but if some of these girls were expelled (ring leaders) maybe other parents would get a clue and practuce working with their kids.

A parallel is to when racism was accepted as nothing you can do to change behavior. Well there is a lot you can do and if people refuse to work to change mindset they should be held accountable.
