Texas definition of "hoax bomb"
13) "Hoax bomb" means a device that: (A) reasonably appears to be an explosive or incendiary device; or (B) by its design causes alarm or reaction of any type by an official of a public safety agency or a volunteer agency organized to deal with emergencies. http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/Docs/PE/htm/PE.46.htm Really this is all a judgment call. If something by its design causes alarm or reaction of any type by an official...... it is a hoax bomb. DOES NOT SPEAK WELL for the quality of science and tech education in the state of TX if people look at some circuits and think... OMG BOMB! I think some remedial Science and tech education should be put into place down there. From looking at their state science curriculum, batteries and circuits, bulbs etc are first taught in 9th or 10th grade. Might be a lot of people have checked out by that time. file:///Users/admin/Downloads/2015_05_130O-one.pdf |

Yeah, I guess that's why the police didn't charge him with anything, in the end. But that's what they were thinking of charging him with, when he was arrested. Making a Hoax Bomb. However, as there were school security officers at the school, I'm sure that they could be considered public safety agents. |
A school district isn't a public safety agency merely because it happens to employ security officers. |
and so could my watch, and my pressure cooker, and a test tube, and an empty soda bottle and... just curious, how much do you know about bomb making? We're going to arrest kids at school because they have items that *could* be made into a bomb? Got to shout out to the pps who are trying to justify the school/police reaction by trying to link the violent school shootings across our country and to this case. Please do a google search and take a look at those kids. Come back and let us know what you discover. At what point do you admit that it was the combo of the brown skinned muslim child with the electronics that caused the hysteria. For the love of Cheezus can we just stop pretending. |
I just can't with this. I'm laughing so hard at this. The cops made up their minds about this kids intent and weren't going to let that go. They tried hard to intimidate him into admitting something that was not true. They, in the most dull witted, bull headed manner, weren't interested in hearing anything other than "I am a terrorist wanna be" from this kid. This is very bad cop behavior. |
You're clearly not in one of the persecuted classes. When kids are perp walked through a public school because of ignorance and stupidity, that is not a small thing. |
I could easily make my bicycle a motorcycle if I just had a motor. PP forgot about the detonator thingy. It's kind of important. |
This. The teacher saw the clock and PUT IT IN HER DESK DRAWER. That is not what you do with something you think is a bomb. Given that no one really thought it was a bomb, as evidenced by their actions, their harassment of this kid is totally inexcusable. |
And as for it being a hoax bomb, since (1) no one thought it was a bomb, and (2) the kid repeatedly stated that it was a clock, that's still pretty thin excuse. |
The security officers are, though. |
It looks more like a bomb than a clock. I think with the atrocities that have happened at elementary, middle, and high schools in America, I believe the school officials were faring on the safer side. If you see something, say something. No pint in taking chances - Muslim or not. |
