Is the redhead kid who calls me dad actually mine?

Plenty of people dump their biological children when the gong gets tough, too. This really has not much to do with whether OP's son is "his" (I believe he is "his" whether he is the biological father or not, and so would any court) but that the OP and many posters could consider foisting this kid off on the "real father" after eight years of raising him. Wow, that is truly hard for me to imagine. Can you REALLY imagine not raising this kid anymore, after 8 years?

Love is not as complicated as people make it out to be. if it's based on an intellectual decision (i.e, results of a test) I doubt it's really love at all.

I feel for you and your son, though he may not be your bio son. I feel badly for your son in that he has the right to know his history at some point. I say this as an adoptee.

Good luck to you.

WE DON"T KNOW THIS. OP HAS NOT SHARED THE RESULTS.

PP here. OK, I assumed that the kid is not your son post was OP. No need to yell, though. If indeed the child is not his biological son, my sentiments remain.

Actually, yelling was completely appropriate as there were at least three preceding posts pointing this out that had been ignored. This one got your attention, didn't it?

I didn't read the previous posts. That's my fault. And anyway, OP hasn't confirmed that it wasn't him posting, has he?

Not PP but common sense indicates that the post was not from OP, for the reasons noted earlier in the thread.

Well, I'm completely devoid of any common sense, so I guess I missed it. I also said I didn't read the previous posts so yes, it was my fault for missing whatever reasons were noted earlier. I actually came back to the thread to own that I perhaps misinterpreted the post about the song (am not familiar with the song in question anyway).

Anyway, back to more important things such as wishing the OP best of luck come what may.

PS- are you sure it wasn't OP posting earlier? Just messing with all of you PPs...

OP?

OP here...

Test results came in last night and confirmed my paternity. If it came in the other way, I never would have disclosed it to anyone.

Congrats, assuming that was the result you were looking for.

As I suspected. Hair genetics are complicated...the red hair alone was never enough to question paternity over.

So what now, OP? How do you feel about this?

Congrats OP! You must be relieved =)

That being the case, how does anyone know you're not lying right now?

why should he lie, its an anonymous forum.

OP: If you're really crafty now you can bluff your wife that you got a paternity test which shows you're not the father but tell her you will stay married and continue to treat the kid as your own as long as she is truthful and admits to sleeping with the OM. Don't show her the test obviously--tell her that's your "evidence" and you're not giving it to her because you're afraid she'll rip it up. Make her confess her sins. THEN show her the test results.

Because he just said he would never tell anyone the truth about it.

Do you have reading comprehension problems?

Not PP, but he said he would never disclose it, not that he would never tell "the truth". So he probably wouldn't have updated here at all, in that case.

Now are you reconsidering your certainty that your wife has been cheating? Is there any possibility that you have some mental health issues that are making you a little paranoid?

You don't even need to lie to her. Just mention that you got a paternity test and watch her reaction closely. If she reacts with fear, it's pretty much confirmation of the affair. If she hadn't slept with anyone else around that time, there would be no need for her to worry.

I think if OP has so little trust in his wife that he's working on little games like this, they need to either be in counseling or divorcing.
