Do many Sidwell families belong to the Chevy Chase Club?

It is easier for them to weed out what they consider to be less desirable "friends" that way. The most down to earth wealthy families now are not joining and are opting for other options because they feel it is a conflict of values to say you are at schools that are diverse and inclusive and then belong to a club that does just the opposite.

I was surprised at how dingy and dirty the changing rom was at CCC. There was also feces on the floor - I'm guessing someone changed a diaper and some rolled out and they didn't clean it up.

We are not members of a country club, but they seem pretty nice places to keep active -- a gym, a pool, tennis courts, and a golf course. I love using all of those facilities, and it would be great to have them all in one place.

My kids have been guests at Congressional, Chevy Chase, Columbia, and Kenwood. When I've picked up the kids, I've thought that theses would be sweet places to join.

Isn't it possible that some people just like having access to these nice facilities (which are close to their homes)?

I guess there are downsides though. If not for the country clubs, I think we'd have better facilities in Bethesda/Chevy Chase, like more public pools. There is a very surprising shortage of public pools in the area.

They do have nice facilities. I think the numerous posters were commenting on the one club in particular that op asked about and giving their opinions on that club.

What is the point of any club? In addition to having access to athletic facilities, some people prefer the opportunity to socialize with a self-selected group of people that are more "like them". Sure, judge as you will (although "like them" doesn't have to mean same skin color or religion), but most people become friends with others with whom they share some commonality, not whoever happens to line up first for a tee time or wins the town pool pass lottery.

If you are Jewish you won't get into this club. I you are wealthy and republican and Jewish they may let you sneak in. Otherwise they blackball Jewish families. This is no secret. In fact one member told my Jewish friend she may like Woodmont better. This is true and well known.

The worst part it is done behind closed doors (or at least they think they are closed). That's the thing about leaks - they always come out.
