In addition to having access to athletic facilities, some people prefer the opportunity to socialize with a self-selected group of people that are more "like them". Sure, judge as you will (although "like them" doesn't have to mean same skin color or religion), but most people become friends with others with whom they share some commonality, not whoever happens to line up first for a tee time or wins the town pool pass lottery.[/quote]
