Silver Springs schools?

Again, you can't compare the magnet to Blair in general. Two completely different animals.

I'm one!

moved from Silver Spring (Colesville) to Olney

never looked back!

love the ES, am thrilled with the MS, and I know the HS is solid, as there's a nice balance of SES

Too many FARMs = disaster in a HS.

I will not sacrifice my kids to prove that I'm "socially aware."

Gotta stay away from poor people they are all uneducated criminals.
Not moving because a particular school has specific issues that are not compatible with the educational experience we want for our kids.
Nope, we just lump all lower income people together as ignorant thugs.
You are a sickening person.

oh well

Think what you want. We are not rich by any means. We bought our home for slightly under $600K, and it needs work. Both of us work FT, but won't tell you what we do, as your head would explode.

It's enough to say that I understand how high rates of poverty affect instruction in the classroom. So no, I won't let my children suffer b/c the school system can't figure out a way to make things EQUITABLE. Equity doesn't mean equal. Kids in the DCC and NEC need more resources and should be provided the best teachers. And those teachers should be compensated at a higher rate for working harder than any teacher in a W school.

I never used thugs. You're the one who compared "lower income people" to "ignorant thugs." Freudian?

Speaking the truth doesn't mean I'm a racist bitch. But if people feel the need to stay PC, society may as well continue to cover that boil with a band aid. The boil is still there and won't heal until it's exposed.

But for some reason, I don't think you're smart enough to get it.

You just proved my point. I never said you were rich, you do not have to be to have and perpetuate the attitude you have.
I used thug because your commentary inferred it, whether you recognize it or not.

I feel sorry for you.

thug inference?

Methinks you read into things too much!

lol!

I don't feel sorry for myself. My kids are happy, and I'm thrilled with the education they're getting.

I'm great!

Oy!! So, you personally know 5 kids from Pyle going to the Blair magnet? Even if I were to believe you, it still doesn't prove anything. The Blair Magnet and the Blair High School are two different animals. Look at the latest report issued by MCPS and look at the Blair performance. It is lousy.

And what's up with the Blair principal cpnstantly tweeting pictures of herself? Is that wat is educationally relevant at Blair?

and yes, AP History was horrble at a DCC school. the teacher was way over his head teaching a simple subject.

As you seem to be implying, the DCC and NEC parents are happy with what they get at their schools. that is okay with me. i want more and i can get it outside the NEC and DCC.

the intolerance for any other view that "everything is great" in the NEC and DCC is another reason why i left.

You sound like quite a peach.

Or a 12 yr old texting in her replies. Go away lady. We get your point. You like white people.

What's up with people fixating on the Blair principal's tweets? How would you know what the principal of Blair tweets, unless you follow her on Twitter? And why would you do that, unless you have a child at Blair? Or, really, even if you do have a child at Blair?

And yes, I do personally know 5 classmates who used to be with my kid (at Takoma) going to Blair. If Whitman is so superior to everyone else, why do a lot of their kids go to RM, Blair, Poolesville, and the Art program @ Einstein? Obviously they don't have everything or no one would go elsewhere. And you know what, the 'real world' is diverse!

They do go to "go to RM, Blair, Poolesville, and the Art program @ Einstein" because those are specialized programs that cater to their specialized talents. No one in their right mind would move to Blair or Eistein from a "W" school for any other reason. Take a look at the Mathews rankings. See how low Blair ranks? 50th!!! Even with the magnet and CAP.

Sure those rankings are based on AP and IB. Sure, there is more to education than AP & IB. Unfortunately, those are the rankings schools and Realtors tout.

You may personally know 5 classmates from TPMS going to Blair. Blair takes a whole lotta magnet students from TPMS. Oops, I almost forgot that Johnson was Principal at TPMS before she went over to Blair.

Anyway, look at the WaPo rankings and make up your own minds.

Diversity may trump education for some. For others it just does not.

OK, 5 kids who went to TPMS are going to Blair. It means nothing. Dozens more from TPMS will be attending the magnet.

They don't have a choice.

If 5 or 500 kids go to Blair, what difference does it make to you? Seriously!! If you send your kids to the school that best suits them, why do you care if someone made a different choice that works for them? And if they made a different choice what is in it for you to slam it...it's just not what works for you... why does that make it fodder for being denigrated and torn down?
