Silver Springs schools?

and yes, AP History was horrble at a DCC school. the teacher was way over his head teaching a simple subject.

As you seem to be implying, the DCC and NEC parents are happy with what they get at their schools. that is okay with me. i want more and i can get it outside the NEC and DCC.

the intolerance for any other view that "everything is great" in the NEC and DCC is another reason why i left.

You sound like quite a peach.

Aren't you proving the point with your name calling?!! Intolerance.

I just don't get the attitude of ignoring the problems in the DCC and NEC.

I'm one!

moved from Silver Spring (Colesville) to Olney

never looked back!

love the ES, am thrilled with the MS, and I know the HS is solid, as there's a nice balance of SES

Too many FARMs = disaster in a HS.

I will not sacrifice my kids to prove that I'm "socially aware."

Gotta stay away from poor people they are all uneducated criminals.
Not moving because a particular school has specific issues that are not compatible with the educational experience we want for our kids.
Nope, we just lump all lower income people together as ignorant thugs.
You are a sickening person.

oh well

Think what you want. We are not rich by any means. We bought our home for slightly under $600K, and it needs work. Both of us work FT, but won't tell you what we do, as your head would explode.

It's enough to say that I understand how high rates of poverty affect instruction in the classroom. So no, I won't let my children suffer b/c the school system can't figure out a way to make things EQUITABLE. Equity doesn't mean equal. Kids in the DCC and NEC need more resources and should be provided the best teachers. And those teachers should be compensated at a higher rate for working harder than any teacher in a W school.

I never used thugs. You're the one who compared "lower income people" to "ignorant thugs." Freudian?

Speaking the truth doesn't mean I'm a racist bitch. But if people feel the need to stay PC, society may as well continue to cover that boil with a band aid. The boil is still there and won't heal until it's exposed.

But for some reason, I don't think you're smart enough to get it.

You just proved my point. I never said you were rich, you do not have to be to have and perpetuate the attitude you have.
I used thug because your commentary inferred it, whether you recognize it or not.

I feel sorry for you.

I live in Olney and my kids went to schools in SS : the elem HGC, the MS Magnet at Takoma and HS at Blair. They got a better education at those schools than their 'home' Olney schools...

It's a bit disingenuous to talk about the Magnet programs as "schools in SS". Do you think you would have received as good an education at these schools outside of the magnet programs? The education provided at the magnets is some of the best around.

how stupid can you get? go to any high school and see how they tout their rankings based on pushing students into AP courses. can u think of any measure by which DCC and NEC are doing well?

insead of namecalling produce evidence that NEC and DCC schools are as good as schools elsewhere. otherwise stop pretending it is so.

I know plenty or people who left their 'W' school like Whitman to go to Blair....

No one ever left a "W" school to go to Blair unless it was to attend the magnet.

Whitman is far better than Blair for non magnet classes. Since you brought up Blair and tried to imply it is better than "W" schools, prove it.

Blair is a lousy school that hides behind the CAP and magnet programs. Take those away and Blair is nothing.

Then don't send your kid there. If other people are satisfied or at least willing to settle for "nothing", what difference does it make to you?
You would better spend your time celebrating your superior choices and more successful and smarter kids.
Congrats!

So what was your kid's college admissions haul after s/he graduated from Whitman?

My gosh you people are mean. I know of at least 5 (which actually means more, as I personally know of 5) kids going to Blair's Magnet next year instead of Whitman. If Whitman is so great, but aren't they just staying there?
