+1

They already vote blue and are active if anything it would motivate the conservative women who usually don't vote

Incorrect. Virginia went blue for the first time in recent history in 2008. It is now a swing state. And don't count on conservative women to back this play.

Over and out.

hypocrite!

but the vaginal ultrasound is not necessary. at all. It is basically state sponsored rape because they don't agree with abortion.

necessary or not it's still hypocrisy.

So we rape hypocrites now?

I want choice and control over what happens to my body, yes.

The government should NOT have the right to come between my doctor, and what he or she decides is best for my health care.

If my DOCTOR decides I need to have an ultrasound in order to safely end a pregnancy, than that is the care that my DOCTOR, a trained MD, has decided is best for me, and I will go along with it.

But if my doctor sees no medical need for the ultrasound, then I do not want the government of VA saying otherwise!

Ok, there must be a petition somewhere. .... Anyone has the link?

Thanks!

This is not difficult. This is VAGINAL PROBING of a woman w/o her consent. Do you understand? Sticking a probe the size of a banana IN MY VAGINA w/o my consent. It matters not even a little that you think someone is a hypocrite (I would argue against that; presumably in an abortion, one would consent.) Again, you are saying it is ok for some random medical professional to stick a probe in my vagina w/o my consent.

How can anyone, I don't care how "pro life" you are, support that? It is medieval. And, it has NO basis in women's health and everything to do with PUNISHING a woman who wants an abortion. It's disgusting.

As the patient, do I have the distinct privilege of paying for this unwanted vaginal probe, too?

nowhere in the law does it say anything about "vaginal probes". stop being dramatic. ultrasounds can of course be done over the belly. not as accurate as the vaginal type for early pregnancies I guess, but accuracy really isn't the need here right? so shut up about the "medical rape" shit.

You should have controlled your body before making the baby. Don't want the procedure, why abort then? Just give birth and cut the baby's head off if you don't want the child.

Actually, transvaginal ultrasounds are the *only* way to detect a fetal heartbeat in the early stages of pregnancy.

So, PP, try to educate yourself a little before telling people to shut up about anything.

So glad I'm in Maryland now raising my 2 daughters (native Virginian)

This bullshit isn't going to pass, or if it does, it will be overturned.

I thought the governor was signing this into law as soon as it hits his desk and it was voted for? I'm confused, having no real knowledge about american government, can someone please explain if this is law already or not and how could it not pass?

Virginial NARAL petition against personhood:

They don't have anything on the ultrasound, I think because both house and senate voted, so there's no one left to influence but McDonnell (who IIRC wrote a law school paper for the former Bob Jones University on how women shouldn't work out of the home).

Yeah I was worried there for a while. I figured all the Republicans had to do was hammer away on the economy and Obama'd be toast. They should have waited until after the election to start in on this shit.

Now it looks like re-election for Obama. Economy showing signs of life and Republicans showing true colors on women.

You Republicans screwed yourselves.
