Boycott Virginia - new abortion law, new personhood law..... War on woman

Anonymous
I am so sad about the new laws in Virginia forcing a woman to submit to a vaginal probe before an abortion even if neither she or her doctor believe it is medically necessary. I guess in va if u ever had sex the state can rape u and it is just ok. And by the way, and new personhood law that could criminalize a miscarriage. I AM boycotting the state. I am not going to spend a single dime in Virginia until times change.

If u have any choice in where u live, where u work, or whEther any business goes to va - Vote with your wallet.

Wow- can you provide a link that outlines these laws?

"I am not going to spend a single dime in Virginia until times change."

Can you tell us how we can stop spending $ there as well? I mean, other than the obvious...

This is crazy! Passed both House and Senate?!

Native Virginian here, and I for one am not too surprised about these new laws. Most of the Commonwealth is very different from Northern Virginia. In fact, I have been called a 'yankee' because I live in this area. Yes.

Not surprised. Thankfully, there are several good abortion options in DC & MD.

Awesome!

So my husband and I can go fertilize a bunch of eggs but leave them unimplanted and... declare them as dependents on our taxes?

how many can we do at one time? How much does it cost?

Oh honey, it is positively medieval in Richmond. In addition to the vaginal probing (which I cannot IMAGINE surviving challenge), there are a host of scary and downright mean-spirited pieces of legislation being bandied about.

They are attempting a "person hood amendment" of the type that Mississippi recently rejected. The Virginia House of Delegates overwhelmingly passed three bills: first bill (HB 62) eliminated medicaid funding of abortions in cases of gross and incapacitating fetal abnormalities; The second (HB 173) requires a person for whom English is a second language to pay for his/her own interpreter if convicted; The third bill (HB 189) permits a child-placing agency to discriminate against persons who want to adopt a child if that couple's sexual orientation is at odds with the belief of that agency. When I say overwhelmingly, I am talking about votes that are two to one.

Elections matter. Dark times for Virginia. History will not look kindly upon these folks.

I want to preface my statement by clearly stating that, while I personally do not believe in abortion, i do believe that it is none of my business and that it is most definitely a womens right to choose so I am more prochoice then pro-abortion. Moving on, help me understand why a vaginal probe would be necessary to determine gestational age. I have had two kids and not once was I ever given a vaginal probe. I'm enraged about this. First, they allow insurance to tell women how many mammograms is too many and now this, seriously it goes so far beyond abortion. I'm mortified that this is even up for discussion. What a very sad day.

so an ultrasound is more invasive than sucking your baby's head out and then chopping it up? lol. why not help the consent process by showing the moms the life they are about to take? show the heartbeat ...

I'd tread carefully here. While i agree that this is wrong, a loving home is a loving home, this was brought up to protect funding from catholic charities which provides a substantial amount to children needing adoption. I know it's hard to swallow but in this instance the children would suffer the most. It's so sad on so many levels.

It's not a baby and they don't chop up the head.
