Here are the things I am sick of:

Why exactly should they not be required to leave?

illegal: Contrary to or forbidden by law

Again, why exactly is it okay to enter the US illegally and then participate in government assistance programs? If someone has an intelligent answer, I'm more than willing to learn and consider new possibilities.

I appreciate that you are asking this in a non-confrontational way, but I suspect that any answer I could give would not change your position. I think we (probably) disagree on the very fundamentals of this argument -- for instance, I understand that they are breaking the law and should in theory be held accountable to that -- but I disagree with the law. So I don't have an argument for you there that you would buy into.

That said, the numbers on illegal immigrants collecting government assistance are (in my estimation) wildly inflated. Now, you can very well come back and ask me to prove it but I can no more prove my position on this than you can yours. Why? Because no one can. No one has any idea what the numbers are. The CBO has said that the net costs to states is probably minimal. So, while I certainly know that many people think that even if $1 goes to illegal immigrant families is $1 too much, I personally think that if it is taxpayer dollars you are worried about there are other areas that would come first on my list.

I don't want to get too far off the original topic so I will leave it at that.

No pp, but what I'm getting is that basically you have no answer and your beliefs are based on things you can't even prove? Uhmmmm...okay.

Guess that is what I get for trying to be thoughtful in my responses. So, asshole, what would you like to know? What facts do you have that illegals ARE ruining this country? Besides the fact that you don't like brown people?

Because they waited their turn, completed all of paperwork and came here legally. They pay their taxes and abide by our laws while the illegals ignore the process and avoid the taxes that everyone else pays.

What if you were hard working decent folk but no matter how hard you tried you could not get into the US?

Not the PP you so kindly called an asshole, and I wouldn't go so far as to say that illegals are ruining this country.. but I do take issue with their children being sent to public schools at the taxpayers' expense.

Do you think it could work like this?: illegal people take exist below the radar and have low paying jobs but maybe do not pay taxes. The cost savings in services and goods are passed onto citizens living in the open so they can pay taxes to fund the schools for all children.

And I guess my point is that we don't actually KNOW how much is being spent to education the children of illegal immigrants, for the same reasons we don't know how much they are costing tax payers in welfare. I suspect that it is far less than estimates, I understand that others disagree. But no one knows for sure and I just can't get outraged over spending money to educate kids, no matter where their parents came from. Reasonable people can disagree on these points, unfortunately no one is reasonable on DCUM.

Don't get what? I'm not an illegal immigrant and I don't employ any. Am I not allowed to disagree with a law? Look, if we want to spend money rounding up illegal immigrants and shipping them back to their country of origin then fine, go ahead. But that seems like a waste of resources to me, particularly when no one can convince me that it is actually destroying our country.

USPS mismanagement and their money woes

FannieMae and other fat cats STILL getting HUGE payouts

Big banks and their greediness by coming up with all kinds of ways to nickel and dime those who literally bailed their sorry asses out of the financial mess they primarily helped to create (they need to do some hard, serious jail time on top of paying back the money and then some)

I'm really glad that not all people think like you. Or else we'd still have slavery, segregation, and women without access to birth control dying from back-alley abortions.

The Republican candidates
My messy house

There is no intelligent answer. Anyone trying to defend illegals is totally clueless and lives under a rock.

How does expecting people to enter this country legally (even if they are hard-working upstanding citizens of their country of birth) and thus abide by our laws equate to sanctioning slavery, segregation, abortion, etc? You sound like an idiot.
