Here are the things I am sick of:

Totally agree with this one.

People who want to ban everyone else's fun holidays just because they are offended by something that is not of their own belief system. It is the grown up version of "It's not fair!"
Anonymous
People who are not willing to accept their privilege, and who seem smug in their inability to feel empathy towards others.

The 'skinny-jeans-tall boots' combo. C'mon, girls, come up with something more original!

People who bitch about illegal aliens.

Spoken like an illegal alien (or the family member of one). If you can't see how they are a cancer in the US, then you're delusional.

People who say ignorant things like in the bold.

People who make generic statements thinking they sound enlightened, yet provide no support for their argument and just sound empty-headed.

Nope, I'm American (Irish/English). Don't even know how long ago my family has been here. I don't actually know any illegal aliens, do you? I'd bet not. You just need a faceless enemy to direct your general dissatisfaction with your life towards. Enjoy your distraction!

Do you really think that only "illegal aliens" disagree with you? Really? I'd suggest you examine your position if this is your default defense.

Would love to know what the defense is of illegal aliens in the US.

Why exactly should they not be required to leave?

illegal: Contrary to or forbidden by law

Again, why exactly is it okay to enter the US illegally and then participate in government assistance programs? If someone has an intelligent answer, I'm more than willing to learn and consider new possibilities.

I have employed a number of legal aliens over the years. Not a single one of them has supported leniency for illegals. Why? Because they waited their turn, completed all of paperwork and came here legally. They pay their taxes and abide by our laws while the illegals ignore the process and avoid the taxes that everyone else pays.

I appreciate that you are asking this in a non-confrontational way, but I suspect that any answer I could give would not change your position. I think we (probably) disagree on the very fundamentals of this argument -- for instance, I understand that they are breaking the law and should in theory be held accountable to that -- but I disagree with the law. So I don't have an argument for you there that you would buy into.

That said, the numbers on illegal immigrants collecting government assistance are (in my estimation) wildly inflated. Now, you can very well come back and ask me to prove it but I can no more prove my position on this than you can yours. Why? Because no one can. No one has any idea what the numbers are. The CBO has said that the net costs to states is probably minimal. So, while I certainly know that many people think that even if $1 goes to illegal immigrant families is $1 too much, I personally think that if it is taxpayer dollars you are worried about there are other areas that would come first on my list.

I don't want to get too far off the original topic so I will leave it at that.

No pp, but what I'm getting is that basically you have no answer and your beliefs are based on things you can't even prove? Uhmmmm...okay.

Branching off of the illegal alien discussion, things I'm sick of:

People who want to cherry-pick the parts of the US Constitution they want to follow. News flash: if you plan to live in a country, you have to follow the laws of the land.
