ABSOLUTELY NO ONE has said. We have complained about the cumulative effect of all the other days off. So stop the gaslighting |
Not true. I am in fact, the poster who said it was about giving teachers time to get home. Because that is what I was told and I still believe it is true. Absolutely none of this was about keeping students safe— LCPS stayed open with no issues even with the tornado warning. It can be done! |
Way too early to say that LCPS has had no issues. |
One third of my students in one class and one quarter in the other were absent today. Multiple emails stating that parents didn't think it was safe to send them to school. You should get help for your teacher derangement syndrome. |
OK, I’ll carefully watch the news for reports of major damage to schools, mass injuries, etc. |
Obviously. Attendance is always low on early release days because no learning happens and it’s a waste of parents’ time when they have to take a day off already. |
DP, but I’m curious: Have you ever had to keep dozens of children calm in an emergency? Calming down the panicking children? I have. For a couple of hours after school, actually… and I still remember the day like yesterday. I also had to put worry for my own family aside. All I could do was hope someone was watching them the same way I was calming the children in my class. It’s hard. And if you haven’t done it, perhaps you should be kind to those of us who have. |
Huh. One class of mine took notes today. Another worked on drafting essays. But no work got done, huh? |
Yes I have, thank you for asking. And I did my emergency preparedness training? With teachers. Who absolutely knew that it’s safer to have children in a concrete school than it is to have them walking on sidewalks on tree lined streets. |
Before using your screaming caps, please read the PP immediately above. That person said, "But this isn't about students safety, it's about giving teachers more PTO." So yes, someone has directly stated this. |
I am the poster who said it’s about teachers getting PTO to go home. My source was credible and nothing that has been said or done since refutes it. It should embarrass us. |
You’re just embarrassing yourself. STFU. |
Whats embarrassing is it’s now normal dismissal time and FCPS just screwed students out of three hours of school, and parents out of a day of work, for about 20 minutes of heavy rain. Loudon, which stayed open despite actual tornado warnings, was fine. Way to go. |
Please wait until after 5PM when the late start elementary students would be getting off the bus before you start bragging. |
Lol and then you’ll say wait until seven when teachers who live in West Virginia drive home. This was a foolish decision. |
