| Early dismissal. Regular dismissal at some elementary schools is at 4:20. Everyone needs to be home with family well before then. |
|
As others have noted:
If the storm hits, a delayed closing is the likely outcome. This has happened in the past. I do not know of a time FCPS closed early due to thunderstorms (referring to the past 20 years). There was a closing due to extreme winds about 10 years ago. |
Aren't they expecting extreme winds tomorrow? |
You're hysterical. |
If they close schools altogether, I will lose my sh*t. |
I believe the PP was referring to a several day windstorm in March 2018. It was a different type of storm, with extreme winds lasting for a few days. |
| Now Kammerer has advised of danger tomorrow. That 2013 derecho was terrifying. I really hope we aren’t getting one of those again. |
Actually it was in June of 2012. School was already done. It hit the DC area around 9:30pm. |
It was 2013 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/June_12%E2%80%9313,_2013,_derecho_series |
| I seriously doubt they want kids walking and on busses in the middle of the storm. Early dismissal is likely. Delayed closing would be a disaster for transportation and walkers. |
| Early dismissal for sure. You can't have buses on the road with 70 mile per hour wind gusts. Not to mention walkers. |
+1 (it's incredible isn't it?) |
wow, just wow.
|
Don’t be shocked, I just typed out what has already happened a few times when storms hit here during dismissal. It doesn’t happen a lot, but this is how it plays out. BTDT! |
The 2012 poster is correct. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/June_2012_North_American_derecho |
