Son is leaning to single sex, parents to co-ed, but one prefers more progressive and one does not. Good place to be, but had planned for the decision to be made for us.

Congratulations! What is your son’s current school? He must be really good support from school matters a lot.

A: NPS, St. Pat’s, WES
W: GDS, Maret
R: Sidwell

This is for PK4, except K for Maret.

Thinking of staying where we are and reapplying for K, otherwise likely between NPS and St. Pat’s.

That happened to our first kid for PreK. Turned out our last choice was the best experience we could have possibly imagined. Sent both kids to the school and even though they are both graduated and onto new schools, they both still think it was the best school they ever attended. Sometimes things happen for a reason.

DD is grateful for choices but had her heart set on GDS. I also think it is the right place for her but counseling her that she’s lucky to have choices. In the unlikely event she’s pulled off GDS’s WL however we’d love to give some waiting kids her other spots.

Thank you. DD felt strongly about the environment; felt safe and joyful at the same time. It's a lot to give up a spot at Sidwell but I agree with her that her best fit is GDS, and I loved the school as well. Crossing fingers.

Let them know. A child in my kid's class got off the waitlist last year. There might not be a lot of movement, but there will be some. We are there now and it's been great.

Did you apply for aid, by chance? That can sometimes constrain the results given that there is only a finite amount of aid to award? But do let GDS know of your continued interest and that you would accept if offered.

The R from SFS was likely solely age based.

You understand these admissions have almost nothing to do with the high school, right? And have no bearing on where your kid might be able to go in 4 or 13 years, right?

NP but I disagree. The way that colleges perceive the high school is crucial to the outcome. Hard to say that Madeira's results are not dramatically better than Visi, at least so far.

+1. Colleges definitely care. Ask an AO.

So so proud of my DS! We are between Sidwell and GDS, likely picking Sidwell.

Same! DD is thrilled. Her two close friends got in too.

Congrats! My daughter is at AHC and we couldn’t be happier. Great group of friends, able to try supports and different extracurriculars, teachers are very supportive and want the girls to succeed.
