Official Admissions Decisions Thread 2026

It might just mean that your kid is exactly like the majority group at those schools. This is a good lesson to learn before college.

Don’t forget the public options!

For rising K:

A: Concord Hill
R: WES
W: Norwood

Not sure what we will do. Still evaluating public.

DD is grateful for choices but had her heart set on GDS. I also think it is the right place for her but counseling her that she’s lucky to have choices. In the unlikely event she’s pulled off GDS’s WL however we’d love to give some waiting kids her other spots.

Very interesting list. All progressive, diverse schools and then SR. What made her want to apply to SR? Seems like just the uniform piece alone is the opposite of every other school on her list.

Except socioeconomic diversity of course.

4th: GDS, Landon, Sidwell, STA

Son is leaning to single sex, parents to co-ed, but one prefers more progressive and one does not. Good place to be, but had planned for the decision to be made for us.

Which schools on that list do you think don’t have socioeconomic diversity? Burke is different than most other schools who give a little FA to a lot. They give a lot to as many as they can. Speaking from experience!

Congratulations!

Please consider that STA has the „Coordinate Program“ with all-girls National Cathedral School on the other side if the cathedral:
Orchestra
Athletics
Theater

Some electives
English in higher grades

Plus your sons preference

Our son joined STA in Form III (Grade 9) and loves the school.

All boys matters, e.g., at the chapel services, when boys talk to boys;
Coordinate matters e.g., at preason athletics camps, competitions with other schools, theater plays and musical & orchestra

Not the PP but sometimes it’s just location, location, location. My kid did refuse to apply to any schools with a uniform though.

We had a similar set of choices (but for an earlier grade) and have loved CHS!

Any Madeira updates here for day? We got waitlisted (saw someone else mention it above too) - we know a few accepts, few rejections, and a bunch of waitlists (coming from a K-8). We usually get a ton of girls into Madeira so am surprised - maybe an off year for our private

Everyone keeps mentioning the top public MCPS or DC what are the elementary ones?

This might be a dumb question but if you applied for aid but they find that you don’t qualify for aid, will u still get a letter saying that u don’t qualify for aid? Or do most ppl who apply for aid always get a little something?

You get a letter saying no aid because you don’t qualify

I don’t think anyone is biting their nails about Bullis admission. It is a 4th tier school, bordering on 5th tier. The tiers:

1st Tier:
Sidwell & GDS

2nd Tier:

Visi, Stoneridge, NCS, Prep, Gonzaga

3rd Tier:

St. John’s, St. Anselms Abbey, Madeira

4th Tier:

Bullis and the rest

Weird list.

Did you not read about the stuff that went on at GDS in the middle school? Ouch.
Bullis is better than the Tier 3 schools.

Potomac would be up there as well..

And I would definitely put Madeira above Stone Ridge and Visi. That wouldn’t even be a debate.

You are delulu😂😂

What was that you were saying?

Visi - https://www.instagram.com/visidcgoes2college?igsh=MWprZmpnZ3FrNGJpMA==

This post is delulu. You compared the Madeira 2026 decisions site with the Visi decisions site from muliple recent years. They don't have 186 decions posted for 2026. This is an apples to oranges comparison.
