She's not answering the questions about her own college savings, home, etc. Clearly she thought she was going to be wealthier and that's why her choices are better (as in, "5 minutes of my time is not worth $30"). Come on...divulge the same info! |
You are wrong. That poster isn’t giving you any numbers because you don’t know what to do with them. You are not good at figuring out and calculating the value of things. Basically, you are bad at math. |
It's you, not "that poster." But seriously...you said, "At a certain income, $30 a month is in the noise. Tell me about your home size and location, what kind of car you drive, how long your commute is, your budget for your kids’ college, etc. before you want to discuss wasteful mindsets." So since you think $30/month is in the noise...disclose your income, home size and location, cars you drive, how long your commute is, and budget for your kids' college. You know, before you want to discuss wasteful mindsets. |
DP. But why police occasional guac at Chipotle if you’re buying $40k vacations?! How are you teaching your kids about value in this scenario?! The very point of this thread. Never change, DCUM! |
| Op here. I should have capitalized the AND in my post. I have absolutely no issue with the guac. It's the queso, which has no nutrition and there is already free cheese. |
Op. I have issues with the queso, not guac. Safeway has two lbs of strawberries for $5 at the moment. Also, fruit is a major food group and so that needs to be part of their regular diet. Queso is not. That is a nice to have, not a must have. |
Tell me you don’t live in DC without telling me. Our grocery store is 1.5 miles from our house it takes 8 minutes to drive if school isn’t getting out, so 16 minutes RT with 5 stoplights. |
We would never be caught dead in a Chipotle eating with the poors. We value our family's health far more than that. |
Do you have any activities in a 3 week period where you could get gas in a DC metro area where a mile of driving takes a few minutes when you're out? How about ever? |
Maybe if you spent a smidge less time posting about how saving $30 is not important to you, you'd have the time to save $30? |
|
This thread is amazing.
Fwiw, we have 7 figure HHI and generally skip extras. We will also often split large meals and desserts. It's not a question of affording, it's about not unnecessarily wasting and also value for money. It's not a thing that comes up, because our kids dont see us randomly ordering extras so they don't either. We do pay for convenience. So we buy food at the airport instead of packing it unless we have leftovers that are easy to bring. I don't actually find this super weird for UMC families. |
Why does the story keep changing? |
Not if you’re driving around NWDC/Bethesda/downtown, no. I mean if I drive way out to Virginia, then I’ll get gas if I need more than a 1/4 tank. Or, same with NE. |
It seems pretty clear she’s a troll. |
It’s a smart way to live though not sure a million+ HHI is UMC. |
