As a parent, I’m trying to figure out which club would be the better choice for her at the U13 level between VDA and ARL. Those are our only two options, and driving distance isn’t an issue for us.

Which club do you think would be the best fit for her?

Those are both strong teams. I would consider who you think has a coach that is a better fit for your child. I would also flag that that VDA team is a team in flux. There are a significant number of trapped players moving down, so just general movement across 2011/2012 rosters, where as the Arlington team doesn't have as much movement as there is only one trapped player on the 2011 team who may or may not be moving. TLDR: Coach fit and whether you are someone who likes to bet on futures,or prefer a more known quantity.

Arl has 3-4 kids with the new age cutoff. Rumors is 1 is staying and the rest if moving. Same with 12.

3-4. My dd team has 10 that could be moved down.

10 is crazy lol

That’s not crazy NVA also has 10

This only happens at non-serious clubs. If this applies to you, then you are at a non-serious club. Serious clubs wiil recruit, yes, but they will also want to see how recruits will do in IDs against serious players, i.e, their own players. You can tell if your club is serious if they give offers to players before they see how they match up with potentials from IDs. If you are are a club that has already given offers, you are at a non-serious club. Serious clubs are not worried about their players moving, because serious clubs are the best at lace to be. Period. If you are at a club that has already given offers, you are at a club that doesn’t think better players want to join.

Lol this is not how it works. ID sessions don't mean much. At this point all the clubs in the area have given offers across all teams to their existing core players and those they want from outside. ID sessions might be to fill in couple holes and subs.

The superlatives are a bit much. All clubs, all teams. I know of an existing TOP player, not just core, who does not have an offer from their big club. Kid will get one. Club has no reason to rush.

All key players have received offers.

100% not true, stop trying scare people. You can't possibly know that's true across every team at every club. Offers have started to go out but they're not all out and if you don't have one yet it means nothing.

KEY players have offers. There will certainly be more offers based on what those key players do but clubs are trying to lock up their top 14 girls.

If your roster of 20 or so has 14 key players, key doesn’t mean anything.

That's not the case at every club/team, feel free to volunteer your club/team if you want to make statements like that.

They won't because it's BS

+1 My DD is within the top of her team (including US Soccer invites) and doesn’t have an offer yet from her home club and she’s not worried. Everyone relax and don’t listen to the trolls trying to make these next few months more anxious than they need to be.

PP here - to add one more thing - I think it’s great when coaches don’t just dole out offers right away. It makes those kids at the top work that much harder rather than resting on their laurels.

Arlington has some trap players dropping down. Are you saying that Arlington will not evaluate trap players or any other players if they are elite?

No, that is not what I am saying. At the age group the PP is asking about, VDA has a lot of movement, where as ARL does not because of the number of trapped players at the respective clubs. My understanding is that trapped players at both clubs are moving. I just don't have insight into whether or not ALL of them are moving.

Trapped players are all over. You don't think the Arlington coaches are not evaluating? Unless you have an offer, no player is safe.

Why is reading comprehension so hard for people here?

I never said Arlington coaches aren’t evaluating. I did say that VDA has significantly more trapped players in this specific age range than ARL. Which means there is more potential movement at VDA. It’s a difference of 1-2 vs 8-10.

How is VDA not listening to these August and Sept kids who are in the 8th and 9th grade with the rest of their teammates and not letting them play in their recruiting year? It makes absolutely no sense. You are an ENCL only club. Your job is college recruiting. Keep kids with their graduation class.

Some kids, and their parents, take it as an affront being "moved down".

From what I understand VDA is holding hard and fast to Aug 1 which is why there are so many kids impacted. I do not disagree with current 6th graders being moved down to 2014s, etc etc. Parents of self proclaimed elite kids need to chill. Your kid made the team as a younger. Let them shine right aged.

I agree. There is a lot to be said for a kid to play with the kids they will be graduating high school with in the same year. The kids, and parents, should look at it as an opportunity to show how "special" they are indeed.

Anyone who tried out at NVA's indoor sessions last weekend seen any details about the next session?

You sure about this? MY DD has a top ECNL team offer but has barely played this year coming off an injury. Locking in top 14 makes sense whoever said that more than this US regional id parent
