Agree. They’re getting desperate. Soon Trump will be raging all over truth social that not enough Feds have been fired and demand it of vought. He wants to cripple government so everyone has to answer to him and he can get rid of the perceived deep state. Dictators need total control and a weak govt to rule. The shutdown will give him the opening to do just that.

Isn’t this just a way to not pay Feds for when the government is shut down? RIF and the rehire them?

Give the whole king thing a break. It’s so stupid. The House passed a bill, the Dems need to get on board or they own this shutdown.

Oh now we are all getting fired again if there’s a shutdown.

That’s a horrible thought.

Hold on, trump is the one who refused the meeting set up by dems that he previously agreed to. It’s believed he did this to orchestrate a shutdown. The less government there is, the more he can get away with.

Collect unemployment and get rehired in a few months?

No, in the past they simply furloughed- the furloughs were temporary and employees were brought back once Congress voted to reopen government and funding was restored.

A RIF is basically firing. The unemployment numbers are going to look really good - not

The shutdown would have to run awfully long for that to work. With most managers also not working, who is going to make the lists? With HR shutdown, who is going to send out notices? And then RIFed employees would have 30-60 days.

This is an empty threat. Don't fall for it.

The lists are due tonight. Would workers be paid 30-60 days?

The memo doesn't say that RIF lists are due tonight. I think excepted lists are due, but the memo doesn't direct agencies to RIF everyone non-excepted.

Unless you were already getting RIFed, you're not getting RIFed now.
