Van Hollen in El Salvador

People here said the wife beating was false, surprise it’s not. When it’s proven he is a gang member, then what?

Yikes this looks worse and worse:

But a 2021 petition for protection from domestic violence filled out by Abrego Garcia's wife, Jennifer Vasquez, which was obtained first by DailyMail.com, states that the alleged MS-13 member beat his wife multiple times over the years.

In November 2020, Abrego Garcia hit Vasquez with his work boots, and in August 2020 he hit her in the eye, causing her to get a black eye, according to her petition.

That same day Abrego Garcia started driving quickly, scaring his wife, as their one-year-old was in the back seat. 'In the recording you can hear him yelling, insulting me, driving extreme fast,' Vasquez told authorities.

Later that day she left the residence they shared after being 'afraid to be close to him,' her request continued.

Would you if you were him? She will use the opportunity to make it into a political confrontation. It’s one of those damned if you do and damned if you don’t situations.

She’s DEAD, idiot.

You didn’t even know about this case, did you?

I’m talking about her mother jackass. Her mother is very much alive.

And Van Hollen won’t meet with her?

He cares more about an illegal immigrant with gang affiliations who got deported than he cares about a US citizen and constituent in the state of Maryland who was raped and murdered by an illegal immigrant.

This is who the democrat party is.

This is who they care about.

People with gang affiliations who aren’t even here legally. Democrats put them first, over US citizens raped and murdered by illegal immigrants.

Own it, democrats. This is who you are.

Yes
An innocent man is being held in conditions of horror. Our government sent him there.

The Supreme Court of the land says to bring him back. The REPUBLICANS are saying they can't.

If the Democrats are trying, then yes. They are the Americans now. And the Trumpians are the fascists.

Innocent?

His first act in the this country was to break out laws.

He has gang connections, both here and at home in El Salvador.

There’s nothing innocent about him. He’s a two-country criminal.

That is not what the Supreme Court has asked Trump to do.

They told him to bring the man back and he is Constitutionally required to do this.

Sorry armchair Chief Justice. Trump refusing is tossing the Constitution

Go ahead and admit you would be okay with this.

The Supreme Court tossed it back to the court to define “effectuate” aka clarify her order with deference to the executive branch - and never ordered a particular outcome. Read the opinion for yourself.

So K-K-Karoline Leavitt has joined the conversation.

We all know what the Supreme Court meant.

Trump screwed up and has to get the man back

No, you want scotus to have said something it specifically did not.

Garcia isn’t returning.

Sure

He's probably dead thanks to Trump.

DOJ already asserted in court that he is alive and well.

Sure I trust DOJ Barbie

You do know these court docs are all available to read online and you don’t have to take my word for it, right?

How about setting eyes on the man?

They don't have Zoom in El Salvador?

The President of El Salvador will not let us, and like it or not, it’s his decision to make.

Ooo
Trump's so tough

Let's a Banana Republic dictator tell him what he can do

No one and I mean no one, even Republicans who aren't fully MAGA believe this.

That dictator has authority over his citizen, the USA has none. He can 100% tell us what we can do, no matter who is in the WH.

Ok fine then which Trump admin official is going to prison for kidnapping? Either bring him back or face the consequences for kidnapping some poor man. Have it your way. Who will pay the price for violating our constitution?

Seems he cares more for illegal aliens than citizens who are his constituents.

He cares that the US government is doing illegal things and he loves his country enough to try and fix that.

We inherited due process from British Common Law. Isn't that white enough for you to try to defend?

Garcia was seen by an immigration judge in 2019 and then an appeals court. How much due process does one man need?

All of the same due process as anyone else. That’s a pretty simple answer. Did you not think of that obvious truth?

Unless he had a chance to defend himself in a court of law then nothing has been “proven” at all. You damn fools need to get a basic civics education before you sell out the USA and our constitution.

Other news outlets have reported the petitions she filed as well. You’re welcome to refer to those. This isn’t about bad reporting.

That answer makes no sense. You wanted him to have due process. He was seen by two immigration judges including an appeals court already. That’s the due process.

Kidnappings don’t bring people home. This wasn’t a kidnapping. What a bizarre take.

You can tell they know this is going very badly for them. The propaganda machine has been turned up to 10.

Even the Hill has posted a story saying this case works in Trump’s favor. Open your eyes.

Post the story.

Are you not capable of going over to their website? It’s their lead article.

“His aides have used Abrego Garcia’s deportation to highlight their efforts to remove criminals who entered the country illegally and to frame Democrats as weak on immigration and crime. On Wednesday, they hit Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), who traveled to El Salvador in a bid to meet with Abrego Garcia at the notorious prison where he is being held.
“The rule of thumb here is whenever they’re leaning in on immigration they’re winning, or they want to change the message,” said one Trump ally.“

https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/5252735-trump-administration-refuses-bring-back/

That’s what I thought - you took one sentence out of the whole article to say the Hill says this works in the administration’s favor. Read the whole article. That’s not what it says.

You have to be kidding.
The headline is

White House embraces Abrego Garcia fight

If you don’t get that this is working for a Trump, you’re blind.

New poster. The article says that this how Trump is trying to play the situation. Read on.

Pp wrote “You can tell they know this is going very badly for them.”

The Hill article directly refutes that. Trump team sees this as a benefit.

You don’ seem to understand the basics of how our courts work. Maybe you should learn a thing or two before spouting off with your unamerican BS. Seriously. You need to read a book and get off the internet. Come back when you have some basic facts straight.

Why don't you understand - it's not about whether he's a criminal or a good guy. The concern is the lack of due process. I feel like people don't understand what that means.

Without due process, there is literally nothing to stop this from happening to you. Piss the wrong person off, have the same name as a bad guy, get drunk and get the wrong tattoo, get lost and find yourself walking into the middle of a pro-Palestinian protest, whatever. ICE shows up and takes you into custody, and drags you straight to a plane headed for El Salvador.

Wait, you say, I'm an American citizen! I can prove it - here's my passport/birth certificate. Please, someone just look at them, and this will all be cleared up.

That's due process. Due process is what gives you the chance to be heard before being shipped to a gulag in El Salvador. If you have no right to due process, then the iCE agent arresting you has no obligation to look at your passport or check your birth certificate. They can just decide they don't believe you, or don't care, and off you go.

I have no idea is Abrego Garcia was a criminal. Frankly, neither do you. And the reason we don't know that is because he was denied due process. The Constitution guarantees due process for everyone. It doesn't say "due process, but only for the innocent." The whole "is he a gang member/wife beater/terrorist" question is absolutely irrelevant. He should not have been deported without due process. Full stop. If due process were given and he was found to be subject to deportation, I would not care at all

It is honestly baffling to me that anyone thinks this is ok. How you don't see the danger for YOU and people you love with this precedent.

He had a hearing in 2019 with evidence showing he was a gang member. He lost because "he failed to present evidence to dispute that assertion" he had a Lawyer at the hearing and lost. The actual documents are here. https://www.justice.gov/ag/media/1396906/dl?inline

That was his "chance to defend himself in a court of law". He lost.

This thread really touches a nerve with the maggots!! Hee hee hee. I LOVE it when the maggots squirm! Or maybe it's the Russian troll farm. Either way, Van Hollen has gotten under their skin. A US Senator flies down to El Salvador to try to get a legal resident of Maryland out of a notorious prison to which he's been sent in error. I can't think of anyone other than the judge who has been more honorable in this case.

And let's face it, the case has nothing to do with Mr. Abrego Garcia. It has to do with the Trump administration proving it has power over the courts, ie that Mr. Trump is now a dictator with full control of all three branches of our federal government.

I am so sorry for Mr. Abrego Garcia's US citizen wife and children. Their husband/father is a pawn, a human sacrifice to the authoritarian goals of the Trump administration. I pray Mr. Van Hollen is successful and gets this innocent man out of prison in El Salvador.

Van Hollen is a hero to me and to many, many Americans.
