| I have such empathy for you, but I think your expressing any unhappiness at being arbitrarily forced to commute hours each day because a convicted criminal wants to dismantle the government is very selfish. Some women raised kids in a cave while surviving off herbs and berries. |
| Traffic will get better as more Federal employees are laid off and less Federal money is given to non-profits in the DMV. Also, Federal headquarters will begin moving out of the DMV, further reducing the population. I hope this drives all the lawyers and lobbyists away once they realize that the Fedreral gravy train is cut-off. |
Yea, we should strive for this not to happen |
| RTO is good for the economy. That's what we all did in normal times. Quit whining, people. |
A whole 10 years is not a “narrow window” (and I’m not leaving my 13 year old home sick either.) Even when my younger kid was sick there was time to work during naps and in the AM and evening when the other parent was home. |
The economy that your president is destroying? |
Our president.. that no one wants. |
Neither you nor anyone else has any idea whether this is true or not. “The economy” is far too big and complex to be reduced to something this simple. RTO is better for CRE, urban area businesses like restaurants and coffee shops, people who sell gasoline and parking spots. It’s bad for exurban restaurants and coffee shops, home prices, and all kinds of IT that sprung up at warp speed to facilitate remote comms. It also intrinsically results in a massive inefficiency in actual commute time. And who knows what the long-term benefits may be to the economy may be of a generation of American kids who have the benefit of growing up with one or even both parents at home before and after school every day? It’s a back door solution to “latchkey kids” and the “breakdown of the American family” many prattle on about. As it happens I don’t give a first or second F about bolstering “the economy” by driving around like a moron. WFH has been great for our family and for our lives, so that’s what we’ll keep doing. |
Actually, a majority wants. |
I quit my gym and no longer meet a neighbor for coffee before work. My gym guy said they have lost a ton of feds. Things did not sound too great. |
Not of the population. |
Only 23% of the population voted for him. Even among the people who voted, less than 50% voted for him. So no, not a majority by any definition. |
Plurality. |
Exactly. It just shifts spending. Well, it could have just shifted spending from one place to another, but all the other great winning moves that are destroying the economy means people can’t or won’t spend anywhere. |
They are not good at math. |
