| It's been oddly lighter the last two days. It's still frustrating, but I haven't been near tears like I've been the past few weeks, so I view that as progress. |
You do. You just lack self-awareness. |
40 is a child. What are you born 1985? You probably still live at home. |

I live on what has become a major commuting route (thanks Waze) on a north-south road that mimics 395/Rt 1/GW Parkway. I am grateful to WFH which allows me to be an amateur traffic reporter, esp in the afternoons.
It was really rare that the afternoon traffic would back up in front of my house (people clearly using our street to get to 495), but it would mean there was a significant traffic event (usually an accident on 495 or commutergeton snow). But in March it started happening regularly and then every day this week it has been happening, from 4pm-7pm which is INSANE. Yesterday at 5:30pm I couldn't get back to my house after dropping off carpool for soccer, and had to park a few blocks away and walk home, moving my car to my driveway hours later. Not really a big deal but I am concerned this change is here to stay, as long as school is in session. I've lived in my house 20 years, there is definitely a shift. |
| I don't know if it is because of RTO but I had to go home to Potomac from Great Falls around 3 and it was traffic all the way down Georgetown Pike until I got to Clara Barton Pkwy. It took forever. |
Could be spring break folks leaving town a few days early, the next or two will be lighter. Also keep in mind, many feds burning sick leave. |
| I haven’t read through the entire thread, so a PP may have already made this observation, but I think it’s worth noting that the chief executive ordering RTO is himself WFH. |
| Traffic is hit or miss, which is actually more frustrating because it's impossible to plan. Before RTO, we could count on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday as decent traffic days. Now, even Friday is bad. If you add in rain, it's worse. |
LOL yes 1985. I live in the home I bought. Unfortunately it's way further out than my GenX fed colleagues who were able to get on the DC property ladder much earlier.... |
| My kids are all grown, so I wasn't tracking that all local schools are closed this week until a few minutes ago. Fingers crossed that traffic will be light. |
Who was even doing that? Everyone I know was devoted to their various streaming services, not “volunteering in the schools and communities.9 |
Guess what even GenX 10 years older were buying during the housing bubble in 2005— it sucked for everyone except elder X and boomers. |
Wow you have lazy friends. My kids have mentioned how much parent volunteers have dropped off and are said we can’t pop in on our lunch break for story time anymore. |
This really odd. For some reason it has not been too bad recently. |
Go back to your Xbox, mommy will have your grilled cheese sandwich ready soon. Maybe you and your GF can watch clueless or legally blonde tonight in basement and see of your Dad can pick up some Pizza. |
