Bernie Sanders just said lifting the cap on how much income counts towards social security would extend the program’s solvency by 75 years!
The works’s richest man should not be in charge of making such decisions , as he has such a clear conflict of interest. We need the guardians of integrity to be reinstated, now more than ever. |
I'm not sure they'll feel that way when they can't eat and free food distribution is no longer available either. Hunger is a painful way to die. |
It really is. When my great grandfather could no longer work (pre social security) he just walked into the river and drowned himself rather than take food away from his grandbabies. That's where Republicans want us to be right now. |
This is what I plan to do if things get worse. We are not planning to have children due to this admin so it won’t be hurting anyone. |
Now Johnson is repeating Elon's claim that most SS payments are fraudulent. Big cuts are coming, but they're just going to claim they were actually "fraud."

My guess it they will start a "freeze" social security disability payments while they conduct a "review" to determine which ones are "fraud." That would be in line with how they've done the USAID and NIH cuts. They will go after SSDI first because that's not as politically popular. |
Anyone who thinks “gubmint” is witty isn’t worth reading |
Great idea. Do away with disability and see what really happens when peop,e have nothing left to lose. It’s much harder to take benefits away |
That certainly would make sense, but President Musk has already begun rolling out his talking points (google the Joe Rogan interview) that SS is a “ponzi” scheme that is unaffordable even after the imagined fraud is handled. ICYMI: this South African billionaire plans to blow up SS. Maybe that’s when the cowardly conservatives on the Hill will join the Dems in pushing back? How on earth is Musk allowed to continue? Why hasn’t he been ousted? |
SSDI is retirement for a huge percentage of blue collar workers. It's going to become real popular pretty quickly once it stops |
A lot of people who voted for Trump are going to find out they are actually the "fraud." |
My guess is that Congress will pass a bill to make SS payroll contributions voluntary, under the guise of worker freedom. Like with any insurance program, younger workers will choose to opt out, leaving a progressively worse annual shortfall. As the SS insurance pool shrinks, they will gradually reduce benefits until the whole thing simply collapses. That way Republicans can claim that they didn’t kill SS, but it was simply an unstable Ponzi scheme. |
No part of this will involve Congress passing any laws. That is not the DOGE way. |
This will be the ultimate FAFO for MAGA. |
Liar. |
