My blackout started Jan 20th. My credit card bill is the lowest it's been in a long time, and I have more money saved for when Trump finishes tanking the economy for those of us who are not billionaires.

My blackout will continue.

I'll not be shopping at Target again. I stopped shopping at Amazon in November 2024.

Over time, more people will join either due to belief or need.

This is not a one-day fight, my friend. This will go on for a long time. It's a marathon. Not a sprint.

Whether you were doing this for political reasons or not, good for you for minimizing credit card usage by not buying useless junk most people do not need.
Every trash day our neighborhood is awash in boxes (that no one breaks down) that brought mostly unneeded items to house overflowing with gimcrackery.

My great great great great great great great grandfather was happy in a cave in Southern France. Why can't we just go back to that?

I don't know what impact any of this had but I don't have the stomach for them now. It's a good time to put my spending through a fine tooth comb.

And some post on this forum seem really upset that some of us are tired of giving Republicans business people and giant corporations our money.

Your kids are about to learn to be more flexible. We all need to spend less everywhere, every day because the only thing that matters to corporations is money. And the only “people” who have enough collective power to fight kleptocratic are the profit-driven corporations. And they rely on us.

Some of them pay taxes, and usually at a far lower rate than a working stiff.
They also employ people and pay taxes. Be careful what you wish for.

I didn't buy anything either.
But who is going to tell us whether or not the day did anything?
The government keeps statistics like that, and they aren't telling us nothing no more.
And the businesss that were hurt, they aren't going to talk either. They don't want us to know how successful it was.
Well, shut down Amazon if you have not done so already. That's a good place to start. You don't need all that crap you get on Amazon anyway. Buy stuff you need in local stores. Maybe pay a few more pennies, so what? It's good for Democracy.

I've been avoiding Amazon for years

My problem is Target

Saving your country is going to be work. And uncomfortable. Don’t be lazy and don’t make excuses.

Of course not. It would be plastered everywhere by the leftist media if it was.

They can't lie about it because numbers will show differently.

Have you heard anything about results? Of course not.

Moreover, whatever they didn't buy Friday, they bought yesterday.

No, we're actually jazzed by the thought. We mock you.

THANK YOU!

It's ALWAYS a good idea to shop small.

Buy from local or small/medium sized businesses. They sometimes cost more but the proliferation of storage units across the country suggest that we should spend more for higher quality goods rather than "save" money and accumulate massive loads of junk. If you really want to lessen the power of corporations, change your habits.

Spending more than you have to in order to acquire a needed product or service is economically inefficient and is self-injurious in the long run. You may feel virtuous, but your retirement savings will be less, and your lifestyle lower than it otherwise could be. By all means do that if the psychic benefits outweigh the lifestyle and financial security drawbacks you'll experience. for most rational consumers, the choice is always to maximize their return on investment, not to minimize it.

Who is going to report the "success" of this?

The government? Ha The stores themselves? Do they really want to do that? To show that they are sensitive to pressure

As for the press? Who is going to give them those numbers?

This is ongoing and re-evaluation. If we are not okay with this government (really DOGE, Ukraine, etc what a $hitshow of choices), this is just one small action. Plenty more people can do with little or no risk to themselves

There are plenty of people talking about it on social media if you need any help

Trump is declaring tariffs against our allies. We will already be losing money and there is more to come. Tanking the American economy is sure going to be good for our retirement savings. The only way to have good retirement savings is to dump the Trump

Silly. And pointless. No results.

Which has nothing to do with whether silly boycotts are logical or effective.
