Predictions Snow Feb 11?

If they announce an early dismissal though they don’t even have to make up a snow day. I’m just shocked they haven’t announced an early dismissal. It’s literally a no-lose call.

Just put my kid on the bus. I'm shocked that a half-day wasn't called already, not because I thought it was the right call, but because they have been overwhelmingly cautious up to now. The afternoon could be ugly.

As a child I can remember being in elementary school and seeing snow fall out the classroom windows. Then the message came over the PA system that we were going home early. I remember the feeling of total elation and cheering in the classroom and I was pretty sure (up to this point) that such a scene would never be replicated for my kids. Ah, nostalgia...

Yes. And the blowback if they get this wrong and everyone else got it right.

But also the later they wait to make the call (assuming they make it) the more annoying it is for people.

The longer they wait, the more a mistake this hold out becomes.

DCPS hasn't announced anything either. They have been the only ones to not close before and seem to be ok with that.

I agree because early dismissals are really chaotic for people with young children. (And And don't forget, a lot of teachers have children so they have to stay with their own students, but also figure out plans to have someone else pick up their own children ) So the sooner they call it, the sooner people can start figuring out plans

Dcps has absolutely closed for snow. What are you talking about

I’m sure they meant DCPS is often the only one not to close, not that they never close. But DCPS is pretty unlike MCPS and other neighboring counties.

DCPS doesn’t bus students. They all walk with few exceptions.

They stated that they do not anticipate closing early. Stop fussing and move on with your lives already. If you want to keep your kids home, then do so.

And? Pedestrians can slip in snow and ice. The snow isn't going to be sticking this afternoon given the temps so both buses and pedestrians will be fine.

Parents here are never happy. They complain when mcps closes early and complain when mcps doesn’t close early. Jeez

Yes, they are different in that they don't always close when everyone else does.

Are you shocked that thousands of parents don't all think alike? Seriously?

They stated changes will be communicated today; they hardly presented it as a final decision. People are reasonably wondering what will happen especially given all the neighboring area closures.
