Not sure what madness you are talking about ending...

3.8 GPA
30 ACT
IN

Those are much lower stats than many others. Private school? Hook?

Anonymous wrote:PWC public - 3.7 gpa
sports ec's
3 APs

IN!

Stats seem so low, but we are in Alexandria. What were the test scores? Per your scattergram, is a 3.7 average for UVA admissions at your school?

Best to all... and those videos are fun to watch...

but.... Where do we find the Instagram account with all the videos of the kids who didn't get in?

I want to see the videos of OOS parents crying when kids get in and see tuition alone is $81K a year.

DP. As a private college kid I would never pay that much for my kid to attend a very large public school. The differences in community between public and privates is very different.

lab costs. It costs more to educate an engineering student

Chem dept has more expensive equipment and labs than engineering. I suspect it is a more expensive faculty that is driving up the cost for engineering.

I have mixed feelings. DC is in at Michigan, but was going to feel pressure to go to UvA. I think Michigan wins in every category, but tuition and maybe weather. DC never lived UVA, but applied bc it made sense. Am I bummed, relieved or both?

From your comments you sound relieved. Accepted OOS at Michigan and deferred in state UVA…goes to show you just how hard it is to get in at UVA. Coveted acceptances for those who really know and appreciate the school.

Loling at this. Did you know UVA's OOS yield is on par with GMU's?

False. GMU's OOS yield is 16%. UVA's is 60%

Try 16.3%

So typical of UVA people to be either stupid or liars.

As a UVA hater, I would politely ask all other UVA haters to exit this thread. Let the UVA parents celebrate/commiserate.

Those stats are dime a dozen.

I’m sorry. It just means that your kid will thrive someplace other than UVa. It’s a great school but you can be successful so many places!

Gotta love the yield-obsessed person making up data when people can Google it.

Their yield ain’t the same as GMUs. Even if it was, so what?

Quite low OOS yield rate for a T25, no?

Not as coveted OOS. Great in-state option ,albeit at a relatively high tuition.

I’m sorry. That is surprising. I hope they get in later. But also that they are excited about other acceptances because with this profile there are sure to be some good ones. This is disappointing for them, I’m sure.

... and the state of Virginia, our schools say they want more engineers, more STEM.

Daughter, 720 math SAT, AP Calc BC, AP Physics C, AP Chem. A average - not admitted to instate VA colleges for engineering. Sorry, had to rant.
