For college recruitment…they need to be able to honestly assess where you are recruitable (at least are you D1 material or not) and should have 100+ college coaches in their phone (again of varying competitiveness and hopefully also varying academic profiles) that they can text to promote you as a fit for that college.

The teams I know around here that pass any real muster for this are the Stars, Dig In (National team), Mid Atlantic Red Sox, Richmond Braves, and MVP (I think Black is their best team that focuses on college recruitment). DMV Prospects is good if you know you are a D3 player…they rarely send kids to D1.

I don’t know the MVP experience if you don’t plan to attend Madison HS. The program is run by the Madison head coach.

My kid plays for Arlington United. It’s not top 5, but I don’t think mvp terps is either. Maybe marucci prospects, canes are always good, stars, Snyder bucks.

Canes has a gazillion teams…it’s a franchise model, so some Canes teams are great (regional national teams) and some are horrible. They try to leverage the name to convince everyone you will get recruited, even though your Canes team may just be a local nobody coach that paid the franchise fee.

Good to know. Won’t be as worried when we have to play them in a tourney. They always seem good.

If they are branded Canes National…then be worried. They have like 8 National teams nationwide by geography (Canes Midwest National et al). They are all great teams with usually the 8 fielding starters all D1 commits (and a number of pitchers too).

These kids usually get to play for free or very low cost (they pay their own travel I think) because they create the “aura” that convinces all the inferior teams to charge high fees.

It’s a common travel baseball business model.

Programs like Arlington United/former senators are great for kids that just want to play more and it’s basically pay to play. These are not kids who are getting recruited even for D3 typically – United has almost no pipeline to college coaches. One thing about prime time is they do have connections With many colleges….but if you look at the best kids your kids played with over the years they’re not playing at primetime, united, DC Dynasty, programs like that.

My son played for the de facto varsity PT team couple years back and played the Canes at a tourney at Radford. They were absolutely slaughtered. I think it was 27 to 1. It was like watching grown men play boys.

I’m curious as to why someone would publicly ( but anonymously) disparage PT and its owner. What is the motivation? Please pick one below or give reason not mentioned:

-player who was cut or didn’t get playing time at York or prime
- parent of above
- competitor of ptime or York baseball

I am not OP...but you left off the 4th and probably actual reason.

Kid plays baseball and is in the HS feeder pattern for Yorktown, hates the PT organization, but feels trapped within it because they want their kid to get playing time at Yorktown and know these types of coaches are vindictive as hell.

I’m not the OP but posted earlier in the thread. I posted and agreed and a lot of people feel this way- that these guys are terrible business owners, crappy “mentors”, and all around Trumpy ‘scumbags’. The last straw for me was when they cut my 9 year old 4 days after receiving the game ball at a tournament for various vindictive and political reasons and then the owner told us that he would remember our name and “hold a grudge” against our family if we didn’t accept his B team offer for my 9 year old.

The baseball community is unjust and incestuous. You can’t post public comments or reviews without risking very serious retaliation.

The coach affair was a one off, but that guy also got fired from the school where he coached.
Most the parent complaints I have encountered were that they were traveling really far for kids who are not eligible to be scouted, so it was a huge waste.

There are two. Coach and married mom affairs. That’s we know of.

So was your kid cut or denied appropriate playing time? Or was he a mainstay player?

Wouldn’t the married mom affair be about just that individual and not the organization or owner?

Trumpy? So your kid was cut or moved to a lower team.

What does that mean not eligible to be scouted? Traveling too far, don’t parents know that is a possibility when they sign up due to the parents’ previous experience?

Actually I’m not but what does a person’s politics have to do with baseball coaching?
