| Probably OP would also have a problem with an ambitious woman when she would ask OP's son to harness his ambitions to put in equal effort and time in maintaining household and raising children. |

His choice .. I'd mind my entire business.
Wish them well. |
The bigger question is do they get along? |

Be happy he has found someone who is employed who loves your son.
Wish them well. |

She is employed. She is working. Plenty of college educated Americans don't bring home big paychecks. There is pride in holding down an honest job and working and showing up for work every day. Every job in our country is worthy of respect.
Money is not everything. We have numerous threads on DCUM of high wage earning couples whose marriages are crumbling. |
Yes! Yes to all of this! My MIL (who didn’t go to college and was a career school secretary) criticized my career/job choice (my second job out of college) as being beneath me/unsuitable for someone with a degree. I was a political appointee and yes, doing grunt work and admin tasks but I loved that job and my colleagues. I stopped sharing details about my job with MIL because she was so critical and nasty. Eventually went gray rock with her maybe a decade too late. When I quit another successful career to be a SAHM, I was “lazy” and “spending DH money.” Meanwhile, I was running a charity program - then serving on its board and doing nonstop outreach events, helping in DC’s schools. But call me lazy, MIL. Now I’m retired (early) with a nice inheritance and more than happy to have DH spend MY/our money. |
You need to re-watch the scene in Good Will Hunting when Will talks about becoming a shepherd or laying brick and how it’s honest pay. Great working class response from Robin Williams on wasting potential. |
| Probably OP's concern is mainly about it being a non career job. Lot of people are okay with low income in entry years if its a white collar career track but not many would be happy if their educated and high earning son or daughter want to marry a Walmart cashier or a Red Lobster waitress. |
