It's interesting how everyone just assumes that because she has a dead-end career that she really wants to be a stay-at-home mom
I was just thinking this. Shows the sexist double standard of how little we think of women. It couldn’t be because she is looking to expand her horizons or she is still young or she will eventually move up. No she must be a SAHM
Yes! Yes to all of this! My MIL (who didn’t go to college and was a career school secretary) criticized my career/job choice (my second job out of college) as being beneath me/unsuitable for someone with a degree. I was a political appointee and yes, doing grunt work and admin tasks but I loved that job and my colleagues. I stopped sharing details about my job with MIL because she was so critical and nasty. Eventually went gray rock with her maybe a decade too late. When I quit another successful career to be a SAHM, I was “lazy” and “spending DH money.” Meanwhile, I was running a charity program - then serving on its board and doing nonstop outreach events, helping in DC’s schools. But call me lazy, MIL. Now I’m retired (early) with a nice inheritance and more than happy to have DH spend MY/our money.
