Don't have time to read everything here but became a single mom with a similar income in the bay area. Definitely super happy with the decision but also going to move to a lower cost of living area since rent (500sq apartment) + daycare is about my take home pay. Definitely have had to dip into saving these first couple years. Plenty of single moms in the bay area who are happy with their decision (given the range of employment some may earn more but I also think some earn about that) and if we can do it here you will figure it out.
Personally, though, don't like living paycheck to paycheck without ability to put away much savings hence the move to a lower cost of living area. |
My DH, older daughter and I lived in a 580 sq foot apt until she was 3. It was totally doable.
It will cost money but I think disability insurance and a trust / will are important to have in place generally and especially if you’re a single parent. |
