lol! The baby calf comparison is perfect. In the other Taylor thread people said she being intentionally being manipulative with her fans by creating a strong parasocial relationship with. Guys, I think she's actually just that cringy in real life. Deep down she's still that weird tumblr girl (me too!)

Lol, the lack of self-awareness with this comment.

+1 I thought she was just rude. She saw Celine, ignored her while she was trying to hand over the trophy and rushed to the other woman from her team. okkk, I thought she would acknowledge her at least during or after the speech, but nope.

And how tacky - announcing your next album instead of giving a thank you speech. She is an opportunist and business/money minded woman all the damn time.

What do little kids see in her?

I mean, actual little kids see themselves -- small children are quite self involved and self important.

I'm more confused as to how this stuff is tolerated, and even celebrated, by her peers.

We haven’t really seen this side of her. For the last several weeks we have been inundated with Taylor. She has overexposed herself and with that, her true nature is showing. The honeymoon is over.

Same here. Taylor appeared to literally drag Lana up on to the stage, where she attempted to hide until Taylor insisted that she come out. Very awkward, poorly handled moment.

Did she actually do that? Why?! Lana is so talented and has a very loyal fan base and so much respect. I think it's rude and condescending if it happened the way described here. She needs no hyping.

They came together and sat together and Lana was featured on Midnights, so it is not totally random.

It did not look like Lana wanted to go up, at all, and did so only because Taylor was just in her own world in that moment and Lana didn't want to make a scene.

It also winds up being super rude to the other nominees, going out of her way to tout Lana but say nothing about any of them. Especially in a year where the the list was almost entirely female artists. I love Lana del Rey and actually much preferred her album to Taylor's this year. But to single Lana out in that way, even if she is on one track on Midnights, and say nothing about Janelle, Phoebe, SZA, Miley? And of course she said nothing about Olivia, they have beef.

Her whole speech came off as incredibly self-involved and obnoxious. "I'd love to tell you this is the happiest moment of my life"? No one expects you to say that because you've won this exact award three times before.

And the "shocked face" when she wins? She is not some 19 year old ingenue anymore. It is getting SO old.

I saw some annoyed faces in the crowd as she was getting into her antics going on stage. People are sick of her. Just absolutely over it. And I'm sorry, she may have some good songs, but she also produces a lot of drivel and her body of work is simply not good enough from an artistic perspective for people to ignore this stuff.

They played Karma when she won the award, which is NOT the best song on Midnights and kind of highlighted for me how weak the album is. They should have played Anti Hero but I think it would have felt a little to on the nose.

Why are you dissing Lucy and Juilen, by not mentioning them with Phoebe?

I think because Lana sings on one of the Midnights tracks, so she was technically part of the album. But yeah, Lana clearly didn’t want to share in that moment.

I think it was pure awkwardness/Taylor being unable to think beyond herself in that moment. Lana was sitting right next to Taylor when they announced it. I think as Taylor took her "moment" first acting surprised and then doing handshake/hug thing with a producer on her other side, she went to hug Lana, correctly read Lana's disappointment on her face, and then thought "oh I will fix this by bringing her on stage and saying how great she is." She was just uncomfortable with the fact that Lana was more disappointed for herself than thrilled for Taylor in the moment (totally understandable), and chose to make it MORE awkward by dragging Lana up rather than just graciously accepting the award and letting someone else fell however she was going to feel about it.

It was controlling and immature and I felt bad for Lana. Honestly I felt bad for everyone involved because you could tell they were all just tolerating Taylor's antics.

That producer is Aaron Dessner. She wouldn't be winning these awards without him.

Dessner is a musical genius. Guitarist for The National (which is Taylor's favorite rock band, natch). Works with Taylor, Ed Sheeran. His twin brother is also in the band and also a classical composer. He's a real tour de force.

Aaron Dessner and the National are great, but I think it's Jack Antonoff who you should be giving the props to.

Maybe Jack was the image referred to. But Aaron held the pen on most of Evermore, Folklore, and three on Midnights.

But you're right -- Aaron is more the co-songwriter than producer.

It's clearly a collaborative. And it's not like she NEEDS them to be successful, but they're augmenting her superstardom, IMO.

It is 100% like she needs them to be successful. Left to her own devices, her music is boring AF. I recently watched he Tiny Desk Concert, which she did during her Lover promo, and she made a big deal about playing the songs "as she wrote them" -- stripped down and acoustic. Well guess what, if that's what that album sounded like, no one would buy it.

She also rambles a ton in that concert, explaining the music in a way that honestly makes it sound less interesting, and she just comes off as extremely pretentious and way too impressed with herself. Usually TDCs are kind of humanizing for artists, especially the ones you usually see with a lot of production. Usually I walk away from them thinking "wow, when you pack their personality and talent into that small space, you can see how they are not regular people." I watched Taylors and she seemed like a regular person wearing expensive clothes and a lot of makeup, singing some okay songs and playing serviceably on the guitar and piano.

She absolutely needs these people around her who make her seem larger than life. She is a marketing and production creation and would never have reached this level without the people who built up her sound and image.

100%

I can command a 100-person presentation like a boss, and I probably seem confident to those attending, but I'm terribly awkward. I have no idea how to make small talk. I don't always pick up on the right social cues when chatting with someone. I have a dreadful habit of smiling when someone is telling me a story, even if it's horrible/tragic, because I'm so freaking ecstatic on the inside that someone likes me enough to want to tell me something. That stems from being such an odd, weird kid that I had like 1 friend all through high school.

I think you're living a fantasy and projecting what you want to be happening.

As for the artistic perspective, again, her collaboration with Dessner and others is lending her serious gravitas in that room and in the marketplace.

She should act more like a baby calf?

Yep, act like she's got a touch of 'tism.

Taylor means well but her intentions don't translate that in her actions. It was insensitive to bring Lana up. The poor girl has been snubbed for years. She didnt have time to process the loss before being dragged up on stage to celebrate her friend's win. Her immaturity is staggering

Phoebe won three Grammys. Lucy and Juilen won two.

Olivia is a little plagiarist. I have mixed feelings about her because of the plagiarism, but I do like that she's trying to bring rock 'n roll back.

I think anti-hero was one of my least favorite songs on that album.

She had everyone with writing credits from the album up there, including Lana. I do agree that Lana didn’t want to go up there though I don’t think Taylor meant anything bad by it. She was just losing her mind. I’m sure she’s not happy with how it went for a few reasons but what can you do?

I think many of these people are socially awkward. They are artists.

Yes. Classless. Starts by bragging about all her wins and then drops an album. She should be better at this by now.

Was TS album announced during her speech? Or was it later on Instagram?
