Texas judge grants woman’s request for abortion despite state ban

They just think they’re “defending the sanctity of life” from people who want “abortion on demand”.

Meanwhile, doctors can be held legally liable or face jail time for their medical opinion, women must prove they’re in desperate “need” enough for an abortion, or sick “enough” or whatever insane standard is being set by religious zealots without medical degrees, and lawyers are required to be consulted by doctors to ensure the doctors somehow follow the courts orders over their own opinion, and our country becomes more and more like the handsmaid tale.

+1. Where is the self-righteous PP who posted the text of the TX law as if it was sufficient, who wouldn't admit that the law, as written, requires a woman to get sicker before allowing abortion even when risk is known?

"Cox’s suit is not related to a separate, broader case, Zurawski v. State of Texas, in which five women who had been pregnant sued the state over its near-total abortion ban. The women have claimed that state law denied them proper obstetrics health care and put their lives in danger.

Four of the women traveled out of state to have abortions; the fifth, whose fetus did not have a chance of surviving, was allowed to deliver only after she became septic, leaving her with permanent physical damage. The case now involves 20 women, and the Texas Supreme Court held a hearing on the matter last week."

I sometimes read the comments sections of Foxnews articles just to see what the other side has to say. I have done this for years.

It's utterly fascinating to read the recent comments section on the couple Fox News articles about cases like these. Republicans saying they will not vote Republican because of their party's extreme stance on abortion. Republicans saying they should give up on abortion as an issue as it's costing them elections. I've NEVER seen the comment section lean this way.

Republicans are in trouble.

Don’t get my hopes up. Can we all commit to donating and volunteering to flip some seats? Let’s start with TX Supreme Court and Ohio state legislatures…

I don’t think Republicans and anti abortionist realize the absolute fury that awaits them in November.

I have noticed this as well. In addition the comments have changed on Trump on Yahoo posted stories. They used to be nonstop adoration of the Orange Man, but not anymore.

I have noticed it on Yahoo stories too. But I do not look forward to the next eleven months of the corporate media seeing this groundswell and trying to neutralize it with “and this is why [whatever] that’s bad for Joe Biden.” They want fascism installed for good and they’re going to try to write that story.

They don’t see women as important.
They can’t imagine it matters.

You got it. For all the years that abortion has been widely discussed, think-pieced, explained as important medical care by obgyns, the stats broken down on and women sharing their stories, they never understood that being able to determine what goes on in your body is the most important thing. They literally think it’s a simple thing to do that ends with birth. And as they have sown the whirlwind, so shall they reap the whirlwind.

Vance did not say, however, whether the current situation in Texas would merit an exception. “I want to protect as many unborn babies as possible. I also think we have to win the trust back of the American people. And one of the ways to do that is to be the truly pro-family party. I think we are. We have got to carry that message forward and actually enact some public policy to that effect.”

In other news, JD Vance is a POS. https://www.yahoo.com/news/j-d-vance-said-republicans-171116995.html

They’ve had 50+ years to do anything pro-family and have hardly ever managed it.

How about they start by not beginning to destroy their maternal medical health care systems with these horrible laws.
